TONY'S 10 METRE REPORT - 17/05/2012

21:41 Fernando Luiz de Souza 0 Comments

Another chalk and cheese week. 7O6T (Yemen) and 6O0CW (Somalia), (not pirates then) seemed to swap top spot all week. There was pretty fair of DX all about but these two are to say the least very unusual.
VK5MRD wades back in with a long excuse.

“Long time no hear! I hope all is well with you.
I have not had a radio for quite some time so I have not been active on 10m for ages. This log has some SSB and some FM QSO`s. The FM ones were whilst I was mobile using a 2m gateway to the VK5RSC 10m repeater. The more recent SSB QSO`s were made on my new radio. I have just purchased a new Icom 7410 and I love it. I thought my Icom 7400 was a great radio, well this is even better and it is fantastic on RX. I have only just bought it so I have not been that active but I hope to get some radio time soon.

"As you can imagine spare time is at a premium when I am running my own business and family etc. A while back I sent out a lot of QSL cards via the WIA out wards QSL bureau. I am wondering if any of the DX stations whom I have worked during 2011 have indeed RX them. I would be keen to know. Here`s hoping for some much needed radio time soon. Attached is a picture of my new rig taken on my mobile phone (sorry about the resolution). Please drop by my page on QRZ and check out the updates that I have done inc new photo`s etc.”

Here is Dave’s list of contacts over the month of May, most recent first. He did include older ones but I don’t think we need them. JA6LGE , 9W2VVH , 9W6ZUL , WD4ROD , RG3K, VK6CBA , JI1HAC , 9M4SAB , VK6MJQ , ZL4KK , ZL1AVV , N5XZ , ZL1BTB and ZL1BTB.

Paul, VK2HV, worked 9Z4GB,9Z4BM,6O0CW,E40VB and 7O6T, so both special DX stations, you lucky chappie!!
Steve, M0BPQ was also lucky, he worked 7O6T. He says, “Not much time this week, but good to bag 7O6T for a new band slot. This time I was using just 3 elements at 32m AGL and 100W.”

Stoke City ended the season with a home draw against Bolton Wanderers which sent them down to the Championship, tough.
We got more points than last year but ended up in 14th place. We didn’t convert our chances to goals and we let too many in.
Cricket, I’ve already watched some overs at Lord’s but it has rained off lots of play. Still Lord’s has good food and excellent Pedigree beer.
