Alaska/Yukon-Mini-DXpedition: Yukon John,KL7JR, plans a Mini-DXpedition
for June or July 2013. If you want to join write to: kl7jr@yahoo.com

Bad OPs, bad DXpeditions? Again and again the DX cluster reports bad op's
(lid, idiot on air) and DXpeditions (worst ever DXpedition). Are these
the comments of really serious HAMs? Such statements are evidence of
bad style and lacking any further HAM Spirit! Everyone who does not
agree with the operating style of an OP or thinks that he could do
better on a DXpedition, should spend his own time and money and have
the experience of what it looks like on the other side of a pile-up.
Voltage fluctuations, power failures, storms, accidents, illness,
cancelled flights, ministerial visits and much more are not easy
     to plan.

SILENT KEY: Rod Newkirk,W9BRD/VA3ZBB, passed away on Nov 19. He was the
editor of "How's DX?" in the QST magazine from 1947-1978 and was
elected into the CQ DX Hall of Fame in 1984 and the CQ Hall of Fame
in 2002. The creation of the term "Elmer" in 1971 is accredited to him.
Our condolences and sympathy are with his family and friends.
We do not want to be sad that we lost him, but grateful that we could
get to know him as a radio friend. We will always keep him in memory.
