TONY'S 10 METRE BAND REPORT - 27/12/2012

December 27, 2012

A slack week to say the least. I think it is the first time I can ever remember a Monday being the best day.
4A0MAYA was obviously the main DX of the week. Folks had to get that one in before the end of the world! And obviously to save money they only licensed it for the one day!!
Like the rest of the world, Paul, VK5PAS did not have a good week. “Thursday: Got on air a bit late tonight, just before dark and only heard 1 station IK5YJY calling CQ. I responded but couldn't make it as he said my signal was too weak. Tried calling CQ DX for about 5 minutes but no takers. Did see that VK3EW was busy earlier on the band. Saturday: The band was virtually dead here this evening. Hardly anything heard other than LY2BAW who was a good 5/9. Received a 5/6 from him. I did hear G0FWX but he was too weak here. Also heard E51E working Europe. I could hardly hear the Europeans. Sunday: Well another disappointing afternoon/evening. Apart from working JA1AGG 5/7, I hardly heard anything on the band.”

Sun: Sunspots AR1633 and AR1635 have 'beta-gamma' magnetic fields that harbor energy for M-class solar flares. Quiet since they appeared days ago, these sunspots nevertheless contain pent-up energy for significant eruptions. (spaceweather.com)

A good point against Spurs for Stoke, away as well. I unfortunately could not go to the match despite having a ticket as I have 16 stitches in my face and was ordered not to get them wet. For those of you who like blood and gore here is a picture. Face. And on the day of the match it was raining cats and dogs. So I stayed home. Liverpool at the Brit on Wednesday then Southampton this coming Saturday. I should be OK for that as the stitches come out the day before.
