AUSTRALIA 11650, Nov 28 at 0556 UT, English interview about visiting
Lake Taupo in New Zealand, fair signal, but not // RA on 13630 kHz, and
RNZI is as usual on 11725 kHz. At 0559 UT, 11650 kHz does ID as Radio
Australia, but not // 15240 kHz either. 0600 UT both play R. Australia
news theme almost synchronized, but then *separate* newscasts, 11650 by M,
15240 by W.

At 0605 UT, now 11650 and 15240 kHz really join for the same news in depth
program starting with the Egyptian situation. 15240 must have been the
Pacific service, 11650 the sometimes-separate Asian service.

11650 kHz is not on any of the schedules for RA at this time, tho it and
11660 are used at other hours from Shepparton. 11650 kHz is scheduled only
at 20-22, 30 degrees. So was this a mistake, or a new-frequency change?
(Glenn Hauser-OK-USA, dxld Nov 28)

According to October RA schedule chart:
light green coloured English segment at 0600 UT on 17750 21725 kHz
to Asia.

dark green coloured English segment at 0600 UT on 11945 13630 15240 15415
to Pacific.

Glenn,
Re RA 11650 - nothing heard on 11650 kHz channel today Nov 29.
Checked on Brisbane SDR remote unit:

0600 UT on 17750 21725 kHz program to Asia.

0600 UT on 11945 13630 15240 15415 kHz program to Pacific,
before 0557 UT was on 15515 kHz too,
switched at 05.57:50 UT to 11945 kHz,
switch which took 85 seconds
and TXion appeared on air on 11945 kHz around 05.59:15 UT.

Arbeitstagen ueber World Harvest Radio in den USA (ab 00.00 Uhr Weltzeit

Verantwortliche des BBC World Service in London sollen

Man koenne mittlerweile

CANADA 9625 CBC Nord Quebec via Sackville off now.
At 2226 UT Nov 30, I'm not hearing even a carrier on 9625 kHz. Is CBC
Sackville off the air, or is propagation from the north really bad?

The CRTC license for the Sackville site expires December 1, so I was
assuming the CBC North Quebec Service would continue on 9625 through
tonight, or maybe tomorrow night.

COLOMBIA 5910 e-QSL Alcaravan Radio, Puerto Lleras Colombia.
Full-detail and attractive e-QSL card rcvd Dec 1st from Rafael Rodriguez,
QSL mgr for Alcaravan R. on 5910 <rafaelcoldx @ yahoo.com>

Hrd on Dec 1st from 0307 to 0336 UT and from 0340 to 0356 UT w/ vy nice
Colombian music via the Perseus site in Central Germany. Infrequent male
ancr, clear ID's for "Alcaravan Radio". Rafael will either e-QSL quickly,
or for a written report and 2 IRC's (that option is not long from being no
longer an option), he will send the old-fashioned LA QSL with station
souvenirs, etc. The e-QSL is quite nice and I would say as good as the
"real" QSL.

Interestingly, Rafael appears also to be the QSL manager for the new Radio
Logos station in Chazuto, Peru (4810 kHz). Ray Rising, one of the
organizers of Radio Logos, sent an e-mail to Rafael asking that he QSL my
Radio Logos report. I did get a quick reply from Rafael after this but the
"QSL" was vague and had no details. Not sure how he got roped into this,
but is obviously not prepared to duplicate his excellent reply for
Alcaravan Radio.

CUBA Upcoming digital text and SSTV transmissions tests by Radio Havana
Cuba ... an update.

Dear amigo:
The results achieved so far with the digital text transmissions using
unmodified AM short wave transmitters of different modulation technologies
have been really amazing.

I began testing with BPSK31 digital mode and was pleasently surprised with
the 100 percent decoding achieved even at locations that required a 2 X F
layer hops propagation mode.

The tests continued with QPSK125, a somewhat different encoding and
results also achieved 100 percent decoding at the higher transmission
speed. My perception of many years about amateur radio digital
transmissions was that MFSK could provide better reliability of decoding,
so the tests continued during succesive transmissions of my Dxers
Unlimited radio hobby program.

The MFSK32 test that went on the air this week was succesfully received in
your country, Germany , despite not ideal propagation conditions. During
the upcoming Dxers Unlimited's weekend edition, I will be testing at least
one other mode, possibly Olivia in one of its variations. Soon an SSTV
Slow Scan Television test transmission will follow.

As the above mentioned tests have generated a lot of interest in the short
wave listeners and amateur radio communities all over the world, we have
made available a special DIGITAL TEXT TRANSMISSIONS TESTS QSL CARD !!!

All of those cards will be autographed by yours truly.

Although other stations may have done digital text tests before, my
perception is that ours are so far the more detailed and comprehensive
done so far using different encoding software and running different
modulation technologies transmitters.

I would appreciate that you make the above information known to the e'mail
lists where you participate.

GERMANY MW 855 Noch ein paar Worte zum Sender Berlin-Britz...
...finden sich in diesem Blog:
<http://blog.schockwellenreiter.de/2012/11/20121107.html>

Entsprechende Fotos vom Abriss hier:
<http://www.flickr.com/photos/schockwellenreiter/sets/72157631953720315/>

Was er da wohl
reingeschrieben hat?
(Daniel Kaehler-D, A-DX Nov 26)

GERMANY 729 kHz Mittelwelle. Bayern Plus Radioprogramm, obwohl sie nur
die Frequenz 801 kHz Muenchen ansagen. Bericht ueber den Empfang vor Ort.

Wegstrecke hinzu Heilbronn ueber Wuerzburg, Schweinfurt, alte US NATO

DAB+ AUTOTUNE fing in Leipzig dieselben Telekomturm Programme - Bundes-MUX
wie hier in Stuttgart ein, bzw. + die entsprechenden MDR-, statt SWR
Programme.

Meter hohen BR-Turm in Wuerzburg wahrscheinlich abgeschottet, weil schon

Landschaft(?).

When tuned-in again around 1429 UT, nothing heard anymore - the channel

comment:
The Sri Lankan Government isn't even interested in jamming them. Sri Lanka
have a free press. Tamil PMs are in parliament. The BBC's Tamil and
Sinhala along with WS are relayed by local SLBC Colombo on its domestic
service, where everyone can hear. So what credible things can the Tigers
say. The people to whom they are broadcasting don't even believe what they
say. Best thing is let them say what they want. Jamming only adds some
weight to them. At least let them pay some money for the broadcasts via
WRN brokery which otherwise might be used for terror tactics!!!!

KYRGYZSTAN 5130 Sadaye Zindage on 5130 kHz, from Bishkek was checked
regularly during the Sheigra DX-pedition and confirmed to be on the air
most days at 1630-1730 (sometimes to 1745) UT with a weak or very weak
signal. Programming was from Radio Sadaye Zindage (Sound of Life), a
Christian broadcaster which targets Afghanistan in Pashto and Dari.

5130 kHz transmitter has been reported previously with various names such
as Hit Shortwave or Radio Maranatha, but the only identification heard was
Sadaye Zindage.

MOLDOVA/TAIWAN Radio Ranginkaman to IRN/AFG/TJK / Vietnam: Radio DLSN.
Yesterday I received my copy of WRTH 2013, courtesy of local distributor
Dave Kenny of the British DX Club. Thanks Dave, wasn't expecting it so
soon!

I've only time for a quick shufty through it so far, but I noticed the
following two "new" (new to me, anyway) broadcasts in the target /
clandestine section:

RADIO RANGINKAMAN [Rainbow]
Monday/Friday 1700-1730 UT on 7530 kHz via Moldova.
This Persian broadcast targets the lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender
communities in Iran, Afghanistan and Tajikistan.

RADIO DLSN
Daily 1430-1500 UT on 1503 kHz via Taiwan.
Vietnamese broadcast for broadcast. In fact, I think this has been around
a while, though not necessarily under this name.
(David Kernick-UK, dxld Dec 1)

re Iran: Radio Ranginkaman/Vietnam: Radio DLSN.
Radio DLSN is Radio Dap Loi Song Nui.

more at lower side. In past weeks always on approx. 7109.991 kHz

PAKISTAN The Radio Pakistan schedule arrived November 5, Urdu broadcasts
to Western Europe are shown as 0830-1104 UT on 15725 17700 kHz and 1700-
1900 UT on 9560 11570 kHz. No mention of English news times so that
requires checking. (Noel Green-UK, dxld via WDXC-UK Contact)

I monitored Radio Pakistan Pashto Service to Afghanistan on Nov 17 on 5080
kHz 1345-1415 UT, the signal was weak and noisy. The transmission appears
to be quite irregular. I tried for one week and finally found the signal
today. It appears that now both of the faulty 100 kW transmitter (API 3 or
API-4) have been brought into operation again since the transmission for
clandestine radio of Voice of Jammu Kashmir Freedom movement operated by
Radio Pakistan was on air at the same time at 3995. The programme content
of Pashto service was Qu'ran recital, religious poetry recital, news in
Pashto at 1400 UT followed by patriotic songs till 1415 UT when the signal
finally faded away.
(Aslam Javaid-PAK, ibid)

On Noel's schedule 5080 kHz is shown as Pashto 1345-1445 UT and Dari 1445-
1545 UT. Both 9560 and 11570 kHz Urdu to Europe heard 1750 Ut Nov 26 with
local music, 9560 kHz fair, 11570 kHz very weak and needed to be confirmed
by Global Tuners Sydney receiver.

PALAU {?-tentativelly} [to SARAWAK Malaysia] New SW clandestine for

the Sarawak Workers Party:

And more about it:

Kenyalang is the name of a bird, a hornbill,

of some significance in Sarawak:

WRN now informs me that this station (not yet sure what name it will

However, a new entry in HFCC shows Kazakhstan:

Which seems unlikely, since all shortwave operations from there were
closed earlier this year.

<http://www.theborneopost.com/2012/11/30/swp-starts-giving-out-free-radio-receivers/>

"SARIKEI: Sarawak Workers Party (SWP) is giving free portable radio
receivers to village development and security committees in all the six
parliamentary constituencies it intends to contest in the coming general
elections.

Its vice-president Wong Judat revealed this when he distributed the 12-
band radio receivers to the first batch of recipients at the party's
operation room here yesterday.

According to Wong, he had received the first 100 radio receivers for
distribution to the JKKKs and longhouse chiefs in Julau constituency and
he expected some more to come soon.

The devices were meant for the people to receive information disseminated
by SWP through SW 15650 kHz of 'Radio Kenyalang' to be aired from 8pm to
10pm every Thursday and Friday, he said.

Wong, who is also Meluan assemblyman, said that the information to be
disseminated through 'Radio Kenyalang' were not anti-government.

"The programmes are mostly connected with SWP's struggles, policies and
principles. It will also provide clarification on matters which are
commonly involved with the Dayak communities such as NCR land and land
development issue," he said."

Spain's International Radio stops broadcasting on shortwave to Europe and
North America.

After stop listening some REE emissions confirms that from Monday 26
November, REE (Radio Exterior of Spain) has stopped broadcasting on
shortwave to Europe and North America, from Noblejas and Cariari,
emissions are only DRM. For other shortwave is lowered transmission power.

It was a surprise to everyone.

9605 Radio Exterior de Espana, from Noblejas. Nov 28 at 1901-1914 UT.
English. OM and YL discussing rescue packages for Spanish banks. Then on

service, and apologising for it. Good, to Africa (EiBi). Johannesburg

(Bill Bingham-AFS, dxld Nov 28)

SPAIN REE's broadcasts for North America have indeed vanished without
advance notice. Another major SW broadcaster has abandoned us!

They obviously did not want to give listeners a chance to campaign against
these cuts. There had been rumblings about reduxions in service, but this
still comes as a shock, despite the overall financial crisis in Spain.
Another clue, a bad omen, was that REE never registered a B-12 schedule
with HFCC, forcing it just to keep on the books the B-11 schedule for
reference.

Jose Bueno also sent me a link to this page

<http://www.rtve.es/radio/20121122/radio-exterior-marca-espana-mundo/576560.shtml>

which explains the changes, along with preserving the most popular
programs and canceling others (what about 'Amigos de la Onda Corta'? It's
not mentioned as preserved), and trying to put a positive spin on this
building up REE's "digital" coverage by internet and satellite instead of
SW.

These numbskulls are keeping only the Spanish DRM broadcast to NoAM, 9625-
9630-9635 and beyond at 00-02 via Costa Rica, ensuring the smallest
possible audience, instead of just one AM frequency!

Monitoring Nov 27-28 finds the following situation:

At 2040, gone are 17850-CR and 15110 direct. (Or rather, 17850 had been
18-20 on weekdays so would be off already; 16-23 on weekends)

At 2049, 9605 with song in Spanish, 2052 French about fouteballe
espagnole. This is to the Mideast so not cancelled, and neither is English
at 19-20 to Africa on same, as others heard, which must be the ONLY
English left, but both are M-F only. English to Europe is gone from 9665
at 19-20 M-F, and no doubt also the 6125 at 22-23 Sat/Sun.

At 2303, 9535 and 9620 are still on past usual listed sign-off, maybe not
significant; 6125 perhaps too but Chinese CCI; 6055 in French to NAm is
gone.

After 0000: 6125, 9535 and 9620 are on with weak signals not to NAm, and
9630-DRM noise. 6055, the only remaining English hour to NAm, is kaput!!!
9765 has a signal but it's in Khmer, i.e. CRI as in China Radio
International, not as in Cariari.

At 0430, 5965-CR is still on starting 'Paisajes y Sabores', seems weaker
than usual; could it have been moved back to Spain? No, it's still
satellite-delayed a few sex behind 9535 et al. Announcement from REE
referred to "reducing power" of remaining SW, and maybe they really mean
that literally. 3350-CR also still on but poor. 9675, the other CR with a
bigsignal aimed USward, has vanished. Direct signals also heard on 9535
poor but better than // 9620. 6055, the main direct frequency for NAm in
Spanish all evening after 0100 is gone. Poor signal on 6125 kHz which is
direct to South America.

At 0612, 5965-CR is still going, as usual, aimed 150 degrees, away from
us, but best bet to still hear REE at 04-08 via back-radiation.

At 1354, as expected the next morning, 17595 direct to NAm, and 15170-CR
USward are gone. 21610 to ME is still audible, and also 21540 underneath
Kuwait. 21610 will be our best bet in the mornings; at 1406 'Espanoles en
la Mar' theme and opening, also heard on poor 11815-CR to SAm, SAH and CCI
but atop NHK on this occasion. 1415 discussing mariscos (seafood), 21610
weakening some, but not much echo at the moment.

Julian Santiago Diez de Bonilla, Mexico DF, was hoping REE was not lumping
Mexico in with the rest of North America to be banished from coverage, but
that is the case; however, Mexicans can still hear some broadcasts from CR
in the opposite direxion, or offbeam from Spain to South America.

At 1358, Kunming, CHINA, still treats us to the off-topic REE IS at 1359
Nov 28 on 7435 and 7220 to introduce the CRI Nepali service.

At 1457, 15385 with REE IS, better signal than usual, about to open to
Africa for a bihour.

SPAIN B-12 REE new schedule:
Se ha publicado el nuevo esquema de frecuencias de REE - B12

<http://www.rtve.es/contenidos/documentos/FrecuenciasB_12_2012.pdf>
(Jose Bueno-ESP, hcdx Nov 30)

SPAIN/COSTA RICA 3350, at 0236 UT on Dec 1, REE via CR is back on the
air instead of 9630 kHz which was used at least one night instead. 9620
and 9535 direct from Spain are both very poor tonight, substandard
propagation from Europe. 3350 and not 9630 still audible at 0554 UT.

5965, Sat Dec 1 at 0615 UT, REE via CR is still here, but talk programming
subject unseems from "Amigos de la Onda Corta", so does that DX program
still exist at some other times? José Bueno`s weekly publicity for the
show confirms it does, and in fact includes this week an interview with
Juan Roldán, director de Radio Exterior de España. Times shown are the
same as before, on much reduced frequency list, but may well need to be
updated: Sat 0605, Sat 2330, UT Tue 0130.

17595, Sat Dec 1 at 1426, very good bigsig from REE direct is back, //
21610 and even 21540 kHz is atop Kuwait today, interview with an author.
Maybe the start of resumption of canceled services to North America as has
been reported by Alison Hughes, at least concerning English: keep checking
6055 kHz at 00-01; 15170 kHz in Spanish from CR to NAm is still off, tho
there were always scheduling variations on weekends.

Checked at 1919, when Saturday afternoons had been bringing bigsigs from
17850 kHz Costa Rica, and 15110 kHz direct: both still missing. REE weakly
heard on 15125 from CR southward, and 11940 direct. In fact the 16m band
was just about devoid of signals, despite 13m being open from WHRI 21630
and Guiana French 21690 kHz.

TAIWAN Construction of PCJ station

Keith Perron writes on Facebook
I just want to take some time to let you know how the construction of
PCJ's 20kw station is coming alone. It's coming along slowly. It's
slowness of having it built has to do with weather and technical factors.
For example we need to have an aux transmitter with a minimum power out
put of 5kw. In February I'm heading to RIZ Transmitters in Croatia where
we are getting it from to finalize the deal. We also need by law a diesel
generator as a back up. We got it this summer and it's sitting in storage
and an overhaul of it will take place at the beginning of 2013. The
antenna masts by law are going to be erected to withstand earthquakes of
8.5 and must follow construction codes for typhoons and katabatic winds,
which the area is known for. I can tell you the launch broadcast will be
something never heard before. And that's all I can say on that.

The languages will be PCJ programming with some programs being expanded.
Focus Asia Pacific will go from 30mins weekly to 2/1hour daily programs.
Two hours a of PCJ programming in English, 2 hours daily in Chinese and 1
hour daily in Indonesian. The rest of the schedule will be live relies of
Radio Australia. Daytime hours will be targeting the Pacific with late
afternoon and evenings targeting East and South East Asia. Each hour even
PCJ hours will have 5 mins of new on the hour from Radio Australia. Each
hour will be 58mins and 30secs, 1min and 20secs will be the PCJ interval
and frequency announcement. Procession No. 4 for Natural Trumpet will be
played on the hour. This is how it will will sound. There are some other
things going on as well, but I want to kept it as a s surprise

of some significance in Sarawak:

WRN now informs me that this station (not yet sure what name it will

However, a new entry in HFCC shows Kazakhstan:
15650 1200-1400 49,54 A-A 200 132 0 238 KAZ NEW WRN 18376

I forgot WRNO Worldwide was still at approx 7506-7507 kHz. I will leave
the more precise measurements to someone else.I heard preaching tonight
Nov 30 at about 0220-0225 UT on 7505 a little off frequency. It was not
coming in as well as it did last night but the voice was intelligible.

WRNO Worldwide is back on. The audio was a little more intelligible than
past nights i've listened. I heard a few minutes of Bro. Mawire doing his
style of preaching at about 0145 UT.
