CUBA/IRAN 11760 Powerful signal of Radio La Habana in Spanish S=9+30dB
here in Germany. At 0215 UT Aug 10. But terribly hit by VoIRIB Tehran via
Kamalabad in Spanish at 0030-0227 UT too, some deep BUZZ of 11760.024 odd
frequency signal. Silly frequency selection by the Persians ... this is
not surprising, because Cuba does not participate in the anual HFCC
conference. And the Persians have no knowledge of the RHC usage that
channel?

GERMANY 183 / 180 / 177 longwave Europe1 Saarlouis - DLR Oranienburg
Re: i.e. not the poor sound we had here in southern England
when it used the directional array before August 2012.
So I'm guessing they're still on their omnidirectional mast.

Yes, I guess too, Europe1 is still on reserve omnidirectional antenna
usage.

After blown up mast #2 and #3 on basic installation, they need much more
time for Thomcast/Ampegon firm engineers to erect refurbished 2-masts on
the 4-mast directional array again.

<http://www.ampegon.com/products/antenna-systems/lwmw-broadcast-antennas/>

When on directional pattern in past decades, the sound of Europe1 was of
TERRIBLY DISTORTED kind, in order to protect the lobe LOWERED towards
North East in former GDR / Berlin-Oranienburg target on 177 kHz.

Once in 2015 or 2016 year, when DeutschlandRadio will be heard in Germany
nationwide on !! DAB+ mode !!, the 177 kHz installation will be blown up
then, for this reason Europe1 may move to 180 kHz raster-ready, but as
mast design, - this is a greater task.

Re: Europe1 183 kHz.
Great signal on my car radio in southern England. I enjoy their eclectic
mix of music, especially in the evenings.
(Mike Terry-UK, BrDXC-UK ng Aug 7)

Re: Europe1 183 kHz
I don't know what kind of maintenance work they have done, but here 20 kms
south of Strasbourg the signal is HUGE.

Before the break, my Tecsun PL-310 indicated a signal strength of 27 dB,
now it is 35 dB, the second highest signal strength I ever noted on any
frequency after the local 300 kW MW station.
(Remy Friess-UK on tour in Elsass Strassburg-F, BrDXC-UK ng Aug 7)

Back again today, as scheduled. The audio sounds fine and just as it was
last week, i.e. not the poor sound we had here in southern England when it
used the directional array before August 2012. So I'm guessing they're
still on their omnidirectional mast.
(Chris Greenway-UK, BrDXC-UK ng Aug 7

Europe1 have announced that their transmitter on 183 kHz will be off the
air from tomorrow 01/08 2300 UT to Tuesday 06/08 0200 UT.

The reason for this was not mentioned, but it may have something to do
with last year's collapse of an antenna mast.
