TONY'S 10 METRE BAND REPORT - December 21, 2013

22:16 Fernando Luiz de Souza 0 Comments

A belting week but a phenomenal weekend during the ARRL 10m contest, probably the contest I like the most, although SSB Field Day was always great for a group activity.
On Saturday there were almost 10900 reported contacts and on Sunday 12900.
There was of course a colossal amount of DX about. 5R8IC (Sainte-Marie Is), ZS9MADIBA (event station for Nelson Mandela), D4C (Cape Verde Is) and V55V (Namibia).
EA3HCP, Batiste has a face book page with many of his interests on there. Click here to see it. His first language is Catalan which Google struggles to translate. I’m OK with Castilian but Catalan I never got the chance to learn. My son and daughter did.
Last Tuesday Steven, 2E0NHR worked WD8CCC 5/9. No contest working Steven?
Saturday Zainal 9W2FLV worked OK7K 5/9. Then Sunday loads. JF2QNM 5/9, BU2AU 5/9, VR2XMT 5/9, VR2/IV3TAN 5/9, RZ9UI 5/9, JA3YBK 5/9, UP2L 5/9, ES5RW 5/9, RW6A 5/9, RA3QPY 5/9, OH4XX 5/9, SN8W 5/9, PI4CC 5/9, DK2OY 5/9.
Heard: BD4TS 5/9, JT1DA 5/5, JT1BV 5/5, 7K2PZG 5/8, UW1M 5/9, UR4IO 5/9, UN7BEW 5/8, JA2VOC 4/5, RM4F 5/8, JA7OWD 4/5, UW7LL 4/8, IZ7NCJ 5/8, RT4RO 4/8, DL5L 4/8, OE8Q 4/8, OM2VL 5/8, UB9UAT 5/8, UZ5U 4/8, SV3FUP 4/5, IO5O 4/8, GM5X 4/8, IQ9VI 5/9, SP9KR 5/9, HG3R 5/9.
He cComments, “Contest week, I got more stations using a homebrew 10 meter yagi without rotator, fix beaming to EU.”
It’s doing very well indeed.
I, G4CJC, worked W1NA, W6AAN, CO6LC, N1RR, WU2X, NC1I, KG1E, AF1T, W1SJ, V55V, LP1H, RW3DU, A61QQ, UP2L, RU4AA, LZ4TL, UZ5U, US1I, IQ9UI, RA3QPY, IT9VDQ, R5AJ and PZ5RA. My prize one being V55V who unfortunately does not use eQSL or LotW, just green stamps (US $) and SAEs. Strangely the vertical has been giving me less noise lately. I could also hear TG9AHM 5/2 (Guatemala) but could not get him to hear me. And the same with 3W1T (Vietnam)
Tuesday, 9W2GSG, Nazmi worked JA4CSJ 5/9, BH4UTT 5/8, JA4GXX 5/9, JA3BVV 5/5, JA2OKX 5/9, JJ1PLS 5/9, 9W2ZCC/2 5/8, 9W2AHU 5/8, PD5SS 5/5, I8YAV 5/9, OE5ROM 5/8, EA5SR 5/8, ON7CD 5/9, YO6DDF 5/5, OK2BH 5/7, PB5X 5/7, R7TP 5/9, R6LE 5/9, UY2LT 5/5, YO3CCB 5/7, SP9CCB 5/9, CT1FJZ 5/8, OK2ZMB 5/8, CT1EGF 5/8, RV3ZR 5/9, HB9AFI 5/9, SP6BOW 5/9, EA7AGX 5/9, RV6FT 5/9, DL1EK 5/9, G3OCA 5/5, G0DBE 5/9, UR5UCS 5/7, EV1R 5/9, G4RUW 5/9, IK0VSY 5/9, PD0ARI 5/9, LA4UOA 5/8, Z33Z 5/9. “Hi Tony..band is going crazy today...got 34 station in 30minute only! I am very much enjoying the "Magic Band" 73!!”
Yes that certainly is a good haul of stations.
A new comer, 9W2ADC, Kayrol dives in with UR5GDX 5/9, 9A289A 5/9, 9W2MZY 5/9, VK3WC 5/9 on Friday saying,
“Hi Tony, I’m a newcomer just started explore 10m on 9 November 2013 and am very much enjoying it
.” Then Tuesday JA1LLN 5/9, 9W2VXC 5/9, BH4WJR 5/9, JE1RXJ 5/9. “I got 4 contacts this morning.1 month exploring 10m and I’ve got 10DXCC.”
Darrell, G0HVQ , had a good contest Sunday. “ARRL 10m contest was amazing, great to hear the band full of signals. And some interesting propagation too, in particular a long-path opening to JA beaming across South America, well after their sunset (mid-day UK local time).” He worked HS0ZCW, HS0ZIA, HS0ZLM, HS3ANP, 9K2/SP4R, VR2XMT, VR2ZQZ/P, 3W1T, BA7QT , 9M2TO, D4C, HK1NA, TR8CA, HD2A, HK1X, YN5Z, JH5RXS (LP).
Wednesday (today) Afiq, 9W2AHU, worked A61SM 5/9, UR9MC 5/9, JA1CIA 5/9, UR5GDX 5/9 and also worked locally with 9W2GSG, 9W2NMX & 9W2PDT all 5/9 +10. He heard ZS6RJ 5/9, A61CK 5/5. He says, “Very good signals locally, QSOs very clear copy.
It’s always good to get more reports from Malaysia.
Arie, 9W2VVH worked; “Friday Dec 13 - JE1AON, YO9APK, UK8ZC, UR58GDX & 9A289A. Heard RR110RAEM, RT110REAM, RL110RAEM & EO110RAEM. *** Dec 14-15 - Participated in ARRL 10M Contest. Managed to work 73 stns from 24 DXCC. *** Tuesday Dec 17 - VK4FPPR & Wednesday Dec 18 - WH6WI.”
A good effort during the contest. I wonder what percentage of participants actually send in an entry? I think you can send in a check log.
Would all contributors please note that with the holidays being on a Wednesday, the next 2 deadlines will be 12:00 utc on Tuesday 24th and Monday 29th of December. Reports received after those times will be held over to the following week.
