August 23, 2014 is the 25th anniversary of "Baltic Way".

This information, and more is found at www.balticway.net.:
On 23 August 1989, the three nations living by the Baltic Sea surprised the world by taking hold of each other's hands and jointly demanding recognition of the secret clauses in the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact and the re-establishment of the independence of the Baltic States. More than a million people joined hands to create a 600 km long human chain from the foot of Toompea in Tallinn to the foot of the Gediminas Tower in Vilnius, crossing Riga and the River Daugava on its way, creating a synergy in the drive for freedom that united the three countries. The Baltic Way was organized by the national movements of each of the Baltic States: the Popular Front of Estonia Rahvarinne, the Popular Front of Latvia and the Lithuanian Reform Movement Sa;ju-dis.

To honor this occasion from August 1 till August 31, 2014 there will be special activation of amateur radio stations in all 3 Baltic countries using the figure 25 in their prefix.

The special plaque BALTIC WAY - 25, made from oak, will be available for QSOs with the Baltic States. At least one QSO with Lithuania (LY), Latvia (YL) and Estonia (ES) is mandatory.

It is necessary to earn at least 25 points. 1 point is given for QSOs with ES, LY, YL stations with their regular calls. If you work stations with the prefixes of LY25, YL25 or ES25, you earn 3 points. Any Baltic station can be worked on different bands in order to obtain additional points.
