The Associazione Radioamatori Italiani - Sezione di Tortona (IQ1TW) has established this award to commemorate one of the earliest manned space flight series. This Award is the last in a series of commemorative awards honoring "The Space Era".

Part I General Rules
1 -The Award "Mercury Space Program -The Beginning", will be issued to each OM and SWL in possession of a valid license and operating in frequencies and power allowed by the regulations of the country in which operates.

2 All QSOs must be made within the amateur radio frequencies authorized by the State in which it operates. Any request for a certificate that the QSO made outside the limits of local license will be refused.
3 The application for the award "MSP" is an automatic recognition of the faculty of Award. Manager to check the reliability of the statements in the application and, where appropriate, refuse the release of Award.


Part II QSO and QSL

1 -All QSOs must be carried out using the same mode of emission from the two correspondents.-

2 The official confirmation that the QSO is the Log of the Station. It should contain only the QSO useful for the application for the Award. -It is suggested to use the Log Log MSP/Log001_ENG.-

Other applications will be accepted if written in a clear and understandable mode.
3. SWL's must contain the following data in the Log : Date - Time (UTC) - Frequency -Mode-Name of the calling station (see Part II -Art. 6)

4 -QSL cards must, however, be retained for possible verification. -

5. The Bands/Frequencies and emission mode allowed for the Award "MSP" are as follows:

     BAND      MODE
     80 Meters SSB, CW, PSK31, RTTY
     40 Meters SSB, CW, PSK31, RTTY
     30 Meters CW, PSK31, RTTY
     20 Meters SSB, CW, PSK31, RTTY
     17 Meters SSB, CW, PSK31, RTTY
     15 Meters SSB, CW, PSK31, RTTY
     12 Meters SSB, CW, PSK31, RTTY
     10 Meters SSB, CW, PSK31, RTTY

6. Requirements: A contact with IQ1TW plus any 3 of the stations listed:  IZ1UMD IZ1RFU IZ1XBB IZ1WVX IK1WGZ IU1ATT IU1AYD IU1ARN IU1AUW IW2IGO.

7. The day 30 September 2014, the last day of the Award, the OM that connecting the station IQ1TW can directly request the '"MSP" Award without having to connect other Stations. -

8 -Each station may be worked only once per day on the same frequency and the same output mode.


Part III –Award Request
1 -Applications for the award must be submitted to the Chairman IZ1XBB -Pier Paolo Liuzzo at the following address: Pier Paolo Liuzzo -Strada Fornaci 23 / A -15057 Tortona (AL) –Italy or by e-mail at award@aritortona.it no later than 31 October 2014.

2. You will have to use the form MSP/Req001_ENG, downloaded from the website www.aritortona.it and attach to it:-Log of the station (we recommend using the Log MSP/Log001 downloaded from the website www.aritortona.it ) -Other applications are permitted as long as they are understandable or computerized) The log must contain QSO with the Stations useful for the achievement of the Award. --

3. Award fee of € 15.00 or $ 20.00 to be paid in the following ways:• Cash (to be attached to the documentation accompanying the application for the award) • Payment on Paypal account pierpaolo.liuzzo@alice.it ; -Copy of proof of payment of the fee to cover the costs of printing and postage of the Award. -

4. The Award Manager will confirm via e-mail: -The receipt of the documentation for the application for the award; -The positive outcome of the examination of the documentation and its submission of the Award;-The award of the Award denied with the reasons therefor. -

5. -The submission of the request for the Award is tacit acceptance of the said Rules.
