5964.98 Rádio Transmundial at 0815 UT inspirational pgm w/M host in PT
ending w/song at 0824 UT. 0829-0831 UT many IDs and ID/promos, then back

6160.058 Rádio Boa Vontade. Noticed a big het on 6160 kHz at 0955 UT, and
was surprised to hear audio on 6160.058 kHz when I tuned in and notched
out CKZN. A block of canned anmnts by M definitely in PT, some quite
animated. 0958 UT definite mention of "...Manaus, Amazonas, Brasil..." (a
list of the network stn QTHs??), followed by probably the full ID at 0959
UT but all I could copy was a mention of one of the freqs. Went into a
long soft slow song w/M vclist at 1000 UT which sounded // the webstream.
Had it IDed at around the 1003 UT peak, I could have copied it. The next
song didn't seem // to the webstream though. Unfortunately I didn't find
the right webstream until after 1000 UT. 11895.00 kHz certainly sounded
like PT at around 1016 UT. There was a signal on 9550.02 kHz also, but
couldn't get any audio on it.

Incidentally, the Boa Vontade website besides giving 9550 and 11895 kHz
for Porto Alegre gives the 49mb freq as 6610 kHz {6160 wb.}. We're 1 week
away from a perfect grayline which is obviously one reason why I was
getting the most audio ever on this. (13 July)

FRANCE MW 1278 / 1161 I am in insufferably hot France (predicted to be
100 today and 102 next Saturday). Was driving by the Selestat transmitter
site yesterday and this time took a dirt road along one side (leads to
farmland). You can see the heavy-duty guy-wire anchors and a few views of
the three towers on the west side of the array. F Bleu is still on the air
on MW 1278 kHz. Locals tell me there were protests recently about the
proposed closure. Am trying to find out details.
(Mike Cooper, mwmasts / dxld July 4)

The France Bleu Elsass/Alsace 1278 kHz transmitter in Selestat, France, is
still on the air. It did not go off on June 15 as was predicted last year
in reports in DXLD and elsewhere. A local resident told me that she'd
heard talk on the radio about a shutdown but that there were protests
against it. Elsass broadcasts in Alsatian from 8 a.m. to noon and from
1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The rest of the time, station rebroadcasts France
Bleu Alsace, which is the regional feed of France Bleu, broadcasting from
Strasbourg. Elsass is only broadcast on MW from the Selestat site, as far
as I can tell.

There had been nothing in the region's newspapers about a shutdown of the
transmitter. In fact, in April, Emmanuel Delattre, director of regional
radio for Radio France, was quoted in the Dernieres Nouvelles d'Alsace
newspaper as saying that despite cost-saving plans, the closure of France
Bleu Elsass "has never been proposed. To threaten its existence is out of
the question, as regional language is part of our mission."

That DNA article, which appeared when Radio France was on strike, also
provided some interesting information about the station and its
broadcasts. Broadcasts in Alsatian have a long history, starting with the
creation of Radio Strasbourg PTT in 1930, which broadcast in French and
Alsatian. It went off the air when the Germans occupied France during
World War II. It went back on the air in 1945 with the name Radio
Strasbourg. The name changed to Radio Alsace after the ORTF (Office de
Radiodiffusion-Television Francaise) was created in 1964. It later became
Inter Alsace, then FR3 Alsace, named after the television channel.

In 1975, Radio Strasbourg came back to MW with a program of birthday
dedications in Alsatian between noon and 2 p.m. and news broadcasts in
German. The rest of the day, the station broadcast in French. Radio France
Alsace was born in 1983, but it wasn't until 1992 that the Alsatian
broadcasts took the name Radio France Elsass. Both stations became France
Bleu (Alsace and Elsass) in 2000, when the network changed its name. News
broadcasts in German disappeared at that time. The Alsatian programming is
the work of four people at the Strasbourg studios. France Bleu Alsace has
42 employees.

September
1946 der Rundfunk im Amerikanischen Sektor (RIAS) on Air. Spaeter entstand

In Berlin strahlt

bundesweiten Sendernetzbetrieb.

and 16 Oct 2012 history

DRM (Digital Radio Mondiale).

Herbert, erschienen im Reimer-Verlag 2002.}

Mittelwelle 855 kHz Mitte September ebenfalls aufzugeben.

also in dieser Beziehung Funkstille in Britz herrschen.

Sender Berlin-Britz in Verbindung standen.

and 2013 history:

Herbert, erschienen im Reimer-Verlag 2002.}

Deutschlandfunk uebertrug.

Deutschlandradio komplett in Eigenregie betreibt.

Update vom 4. September 2013: Goodbye Mittelwelle.

GERMANY DAB+ and Bauer-Verlag Hamburg.

Hamburger Verlagsunternehmen gross ins deutsche Digitalradio DAB+

Bauer will gross ins deutsche Digitalradio DAB+ einsteigen -

In
Deutschland ist das Unternehmen mit 25 Prozent am Privatsender Radio
Hamburg beteiligt. <>

KUWAIT 17550, July 11 at 2015, 2128 and 2350 UT chex, NO signal from
Radio Kuwait, which had been broadcasting Arabic to Central & Western USA
at 20-24 UT. Riding the MUF, this might depend on propagation, but more
often than not in the non-winter months this has been audible, sometimes
quite well, but subject to flutter.

Ivo Ivanov reported July 10 that this transmitter (which was also on 5960,
7250, 11630 and 13650 kHz at other dayparts), is no longer on the air
since Junend. It was the last one left, previous ones having disappeared
at Mayend (9750, 6050 kHz) and Febend (21580, 21540, 15540 kHz). So
scratch another country off the SWBC list. There were once 5 x 500 kW
transmitters at Kabd, and now there might as well be zero.

If Radio Kuwait had not stupidly run this last transmitter all winter on
17550 in the middle of the night for several years, when it would
propagate only into outer space, it might not have worn out by now!

Except - the big IBB site, "George A. Moore Transmitting Station" (who was
he?), remains with per WRTH 2015, 4 x 250 kW and two more being added;
plus two high-power MW with a third being added.

Kuwait is yet another IBB host country which missed a golden opportunity
to require access to IBB SW facilities for its own external service, as
part of the deal, like for the Philippines and Thailand. Even now, IBB
might take the initiative and offer RK some transmitter time; if they even
care about SW any more.

UZBEKISTAN [or RVA Palauig-Zambales Philippines?] 15425 kHz strange
5 minutes TX program signal, July 14, 1155-1200 UT, probably today
July 14 another WRN London Jeff Cohen service heard via Tashkent
Uzbekistan ?
Radio Free Sarawak try on air ?
My thoughts on strange sign-on procedure in 1155-1200 UT short program
audio snippet, wb.

15425 kHz noted a sign-on procedure on that channel, very tiny signal
level in Brisbane Queensland downunder around 1155 UT. So decided to
change the SDR remote network rx to another remote SDR unit north of Tokyo

Around 1156 UT noted an end procedure of an UNKNOWN language program,
seemingly n o t Bahasa Malaysian. Mentioned few times 'BBC...' by male
voice announcer, so I guess the technician of the UNKNOWN bcast center
site, - likeley Tashkent - Uzbekistan relay site -, switched to a
satellite feed on Indian Ocean program taken from BBC / WRN control room
near London ?

The unknown bcast transmission ended, and was NOT ANYMORE on air, when
checked at 1201 UT again.

So, was that a negative program start which happened today July 14 at
1155-1200 UT ?

Unfortunately I did not put any mp3/ogg format recording on that channel

Here is the rest of my 19 mb logging in 1155 - 1230 UT on July 14.

Last year RFS did not broadcast on Sunday only, but now they are off
Saturday and Sunday. So only broadcasting on SW during weekdays now.

Hi, Glenn. Preparations are well underway in Zambia, but no, we have not

we plan to be on the air before the end of the A-15 broadcast period, on
the frequencies listed. We'll let you know when there's something to be
