TONY'S 10 METRE BAND REPORT - October 15, 2015

October 15, 2015

A rather slow week then a good burst of activity at the weekend.
There were quite a few DX stations about with probably TX3X (Chesterfield Is) and S79SP (Seychelles Is) mostly sharing the honours but being pipped to the top on Sunday by YV4KW/1 Venezuela).

There were other YV and YY stations about plus T2GC (Tuvalu) and CO6LC (Cuba). So a good week DX wise.

Ian, MM0IMC , got a very neat couple of contacts on Wednesday last week.
LA6WNA 5/6 LA3VJA 5/9+5dB. “I worked them via Aurora @ 18.55UTC.

I then spotted a visual aurora @ 20.25UTC.”

Nice one Ian, there are people who pay good money for that. Work any more then let me know.
Paul G3SEA/KH6 in Hawaii heard LU7YZ 599, but that was it. What he does say is, “Aloha Tony, no HF in the tank here. Mahalo for restoring the GB3LV EchoIRLP node. I was a member of the ARC as a schoolboy SWL when meetings were at Arnos School ! Met Richard G3RWL here when the T32C gang transited here in 2011. 73 & Aloha. Paul”.

Well, thanks for the thanks about GB3LV IRLP and Echolink nodes, but the real thanks should go to Roger G8IUC who climbed up the Ivory Tower (Enfield Civic Centre Building) to fix the GB3LV repeater.

Here is a future reminder that the Orionid meteor shower should start on the 21st October. It’s viewable in both the northern and southern hemispheres. Forecasts are good but as always it depends on the weather.
England progress through the Euro footy with a 100% record. They really didn’t meet any genuine opposition yet. Stoke City play next Monday night at Swansea, a tough one but then there are no easy ones in the English Premier League.
