"A Voz de Angola" und "Radio Nacional de Angola".

(Willi Westrupp-D, A-DX May 1)

Re: A Voz de Angola - nichts bekannt, dass dort eine Renovierung statt
gefunden haette.

ARGENTINA 11710.51 on UT Fri May 6 at 0123 UT, RAE better than usual,
about S9 with tango music during Japanese hour which likely has more
listeners in Brasil, Peru than in Japan. Had been more like 11710.6 kHz
or .7 kHz, but I see Aoki now has it on 11710.5 kHz as well.

11710.63 on May 7 at 0119 UT, RAE is S4 and JBM, unlike 24 hours ago,
and .12 kHz higher. Today's Aoki might have changed it but still shows
11710.5 as of May 6. It does vary from day to day.

BELARUS An article on removing KVSV center in Grodno
<http://s13.ru/archives/138553>

Object "5-16" under the heading "The Secret" was designed by the order of
the USSR Ministry of Communications in 1984. Two radio tower height of
124 meters and two 60 meters were put into operation near the village
near Grodno Ponemun December 31, 1986.

It's no secret was that their main purpose - to create interference to
foreign radio stations. However, the tower was used as "jammers" in Grodno
long, they redirected for other purposes:

the broadcast of several programs of All-Union Radio, the radio station
"Mayak", All-Union and Republican broadcasting to foreign countries.

Already in independent Belarus they broadcast national radio stations, and
partly to the Russian FM. Operated rigs in Ponemuni until 2012, according
to "The Grodno Truth". But in the era of "numbers" were unclaimed. RUE
"Belarusian Broadcasting Center" was decided on the phased dismantling
ponemunskih towers.

Institute "Grodnogiprostroy" developed a project of dismantling of all
four radio masts.

- Now dismantle towers project is under examination, - says Director
Nicholas Monich Institute.

- In addition, the design of demolition projects of three radio towers in
height from 118 to 124 meters in the Mogilev region and a fifty-meter near
Baranovichi in the Brest region.

When dismantling towers, demolition and dismantling of concrete
foundations came in disrepair of buildings completed, vosmigektarnogo
reclamation of the land will be held in Ponemuni, which will go to the
city. Probably land offered to investors.

BHUTAN 6035 BBS on May 2, tuned in at 1217 UT to hear the usual format:
BBS indigenous music mixing with PBS Yunnan (China); 1219 UT one of the
stations went off the air; as I have recently been reporting, this would
fit the BBS pattern, then leaving the frequency clear for PBS. Not so
today! It was PBS that went off the air; I continued to listen and noted I
was still hearing the BBS indigenous music and was clearly not with PBS
Vietnamese, but was in vernacular; after 1230 UT had a long interview;
1300 UT an often heard BBS theme music; announcer in vernacular till
suddenly off at 1307 UT. Truly a unique reception for both BBS and PBS.
Rare to hear BBS without the normal PBS QRM.

May 1, noted at 1212 & 1306 UT that PBS Yunnan was off the air on 6035 kHz
(also no BBS), so seems PBS is having technical difficulties now, so a
good time to monitor Bhutan.
(Ron Howard-CA-USA, DXplorer via wwdxc BC-DX TopNews May 2)

May 3 with extremely poor Asian / Pacific reception this morning!!
Jim Young and I both noted what he reports:

"BBS on 6034.994 kHz this morning from 1149 to 1217:17* UT. No PBS under,"
but my reception of BBS yesterday was many times better than today. Hope
we can get some days with good propagation, while PBS is having problems.
Almost all the regulars that I listen to were very weak.

0930-1000 UT was listening to RA (9580 // 12065 // 12085 kHz all fair-
good) with special live 2016 budget speech by Scott Morrison and wanted to
check if ABC also had it. Very rare for me to find that 4835 kHz only had
an open carrier - No Audio. Normally I have very decent audio, but none
today!
(Ron Howard-CA-USA, dxld May 3)

Believe I now have a better understanding of what has been happening
recently with BBS and PBS Yunnan on 6035. Noted the following on May 5:

1121 UT: PBS in Chinese with music show; no BBS yet.

1152 UT: Finally hearing BBS with old Bob Dylan song (sounded like "Just
Like a Woman"?), underneath stronger PBS with announcer in Chinese.

1200 UT: PBS changed to Vietnamese and gave multi- language ID ("SW liu[6]
ling[0] san[3] wu[5]. Yunnan Radio and Television International, the Voice
Shangri-la"); went off the air 1201 UT, leaving BBS in the clear. So what
has been happening recently is that PBS is no longer going off the air at
1500 UT as they normally did, but now end broadcasting sometime around
1200 UT. A major change and of course greatly helps with reception of BBS
after they are off.

1201 UT: BBS with usual format with announcer and brief spots with
indigenous music.

1220-1225 UT: Repetitive indigenous singing.

1228 UT: BBS off the air.

CHAD Tonight checked the 6165 kHz channel around 1730-1800 UT here in
southern Germany. At 1745 UT on May 6, measured two signals, like CRI
English on even 6165.000 kHz at S=9+25dB strength, but also set the mouse
on SDR screen at S=8 or -76dBm on the lower side on odd frequency 6164.958
kHz, which is most likely RN Tchadienne N'Djamena.

[later] Now at the gap 1757 to 1800 UT, when CRI is OFF at 1758 UT noted
TCD at S=9+5 or -65dBm signal level, low modulation, undoubtedly in French

CUBA Latest update from RHC, radio program now on our 56th year on the
air.

Dear amigo Wolfie: This is the latest update of our schedule.

We are still using 15140 kHz to North America during the local afternoon
hours, as not one listener has complained of any incompatibility with
another station.

All reports tell us of a SINPO 55555 !

Do you have any remote SDR receiver near Chicago USA / Toronto CAN to
check and see what the signal to noise ratio is there ?

RHC Arabic 1811 UT on May 5th, Bauta 15140 kHz 100 kW 340 degrees.
Hello dear estimado Arnaldo,

re RHC Bauta 1800 to 2030 UT in A-16 season, til November 16, 2016.

see the screenshot of the remote PERSEUS SDR unit in Michigan across
Chicago lakes in USA, Arabic service at 1811 UT on May 5th. From 1832 UT
onwards Creole language service announced. Signal strength S=9+10dB
or -63dBm signal.
Wideband signal of 10.8 kHz width. Underneath a little QRM of Radio
Sultanate of Oman Thumrait in Oman Arabian Peninsula.

But at next check at 1955 UT, the accompanied co-channel interference QRM
of Oman Radio was on less QRM lower level, listen to the second record
attached taken of 1955 UT, RHC program in English language.

Though the neighbour channel of 15150 kHz is totally empty
and NOT REQUESTED at all in ITU/HFCC A-16 season.

See attached Excel xls file of 15 MHz 19 mb range in total.

RHC French on May 5th, Bauta 15140 kHz 100 kW 340 degrees,
heard again at 2015 UT in Germany, and 2023 UTC in remote unit at Michigan
USA,
listen to enclosed recordings. In Germany 15140 kHz channel was totally
covered by Radio Sultanate Oman bcast from Thumrait Oman site.

BUT on Michigan remote SDR rx unit,
no QRM anymore from 1930 to 2030 UT to state on 15140 kHz.

RHC Bauta transmission 15140 kHz switched OFF at 20.32:15 UTC.

Listen to the recording of Radio Sultanate Oman on 15140 kHz,
taken also at Michigan remote rx unit,
when recorded after Cuba switch-off totally from 20.33 UT.

Though - I guess - the empty channel 15150 kHz would be the better choice,
especially also in September/October/November autumn months ...

ECUADOR 6050 German direct from Quito-EQA, and English 0400-0429 UT.
automatic translation:

Hello Christoph {Ratzer}, hi list of participants, after I've heard
now variously that a direct reception of Quito is possible on
6050 kHz, we have a second trial started, to send in English and German.

In the transmission period B15 it was not possible, because AWR his French
mission for North Africa drove in the same time window.
{ 6045 kHz 0430-0500 UT AWR French via ORS MOS AUT; wb.}

For B16 {sic A-16, AWR now French 6155 kHz via ORS MOS AUT; wb.} AWR have
promised to change this, since the AWR Moosbrunn broadcast signals even
were strong in all Americas, and our little "dim light" were here result
in flat signal in the region.

So: just around 0400-0429 UT English language (All that Jazz)
and approximately 0429-0459 UT in German language: our news magazine
and a comment by Dr. Wolff by Ecuador and their earthquake.

Hardcopy QSL-1 IRC or bank transfer. Information on our webpage:

<http://www.andenstimme.org>

Currently we send our mail via Germany because the postage for
a standard letter to Europe has increased to US $ 8.50. We give our
Post to visitors and employees which traveling to Germany. Tomorrow a
small parcel of listeners letter goes back to Germany by airplane
transport, and then again next on 11 May too.

Good luck with your RR reception report and mail to HCJB Andenstimme, Try!

ECUADOR Deutsch direkt aus Quito

Hallo Christoph, hallo Listenteilnehmer,
Zeitfenster fuhr.

Fuer B16 {sic A-16, AWR French now 6155 kHz via ORS MOS AUT; wb.} haben

Also: gleich um 0400 UT Englisch (All that Jazz) und ca. 0429 UT Deutsch:
unser Nachrichtenmagazin und einen Kommentar von Dr. Wolff ueber Ecuador
und seine Erdbeben.

Hardcopy QSL gegen 1 IRC oder Ueberweisung. Infos auf unserer Webpage:

<http://www.andenstimme.org>

abnehmender Sonnenflecken Era.
(wb, wwdxc BC-DX TopNews May 6)

richtige Stelle?
(Wolfgang Gargitter-AUT, A-DX ng May 7)

Re: INDIANER-RADIO 6050 kHz Quito Ecuador. Habe auch gerade in unserer
F_B_gruppe ueber meinen Empfang berichtet:

"Heute um 0430 UT war das deutschsprachige DX-Programm von Radio HCJB auf
6050 kHz zu hoeren. Das Signal ist mit S5 nicht sehr stark, aber trotzdem
ein schoener DX-Empfang aus Ekuador."

Der Empfangsbericht kommt ueber das Formular der Andenstimme sicher bei
der richtigen Stelle an. Beachtenswert dazu wenn man eine richtige QSL
Karte mit Briefpost moechte:

<http://andenstimme.org/empfang/rckporto>

About Eye Radio Studio

Eye Radio is a 'one stop shop' where South Sudanese listeners can tune in
seven days a week, 24 hours a day and hear local, national and
international news and sports, with in-depth focus on a wide range of
issues related to the development of South Sudan Eye Radio broadcasts in
English, Simple Arabic and in seven local languages. Formerly operating as
Sudan Radio Service, (SRS 98.6 FM), Eye Radio is Sudan's first independent
broadcast provider of news and information.

Eye Radio produces detailed objective news and information, programs with
content related to civic education, health, agriculture, and other
important issues, as well as music, sports and entertainment. Eye Media,
the parent company to Eye Radio, also provides opportunities for
journalism training to the people of South Sudan.

Eye Radio 98.6 FM broadcasts with a 2,000-watt transmitter, covering most
of Central Equatoria and portions of Eastern and Western Equatoria. It
went on the air in June 2010 and is now on 24 hours per day from its
studios in Korok, Juba.

With the name change in August, 2012, Eye Radio has launched new
programming initiatives, including a comprehensive morning program "The
Dawn" that includes national, African and other international news, in
addition to locally produced audio features, market reports, traffic,
health and safety tips, local proverbs, interviews and call-ins. Eye Radio
is also developing a stringer network to provide reports from around the
country and not just Juba, to truly be "Your Eye on South Sudan, 100%
South Sudanese."

Eye Radio is currently planning to build 9 repeater stations plus several
"translator" or "gap filler" stations to increase its coverage to South
Sudan's main population centers with a presence in each state. It is also
planning a new evening program to compliment the morning show.

Eye Radio's vision is to develop into a self-sustaining independent radio
station, serving the whole of the Republic of South Sudan and surrounding
territories.

Eye Radio began as a project of Education Development Center (EDC), an
international NGO based in the US, with support from the United States
Agency for International Development (USAID). SRS's first broadcast was on
July 30, 2003, with initial one hour-long shortwave broadcasts, consisting
of news summaries and music. Today, Eye Radio is managed as a partnership
between Internews and Eye Media. Internews is an international non-profit
organization whose mission is to empower local media worldwide to give
people the news and information they need, the ability to connect and the
means to make their voices heard.

Our objectives

To provide to the people of South Sudan and neighboring territories
objective and balanced news and information on issues vital to an informed
and participating citizenry To provide and facilitate access to
information, including governmental issues and elections, civic education,
health, education, culture and gender.

To provide education and training to build the capacity of journalists and
other media professionals To promote and encourage training projects

FRANCE [to GAMBIA] 15465, Friday April 22 at 1901 UT, using the G8
portable at hand, I can tell there is a signal here, but that's it. By
1936 UT I'm on the NRD-545 with N-S internal shortwire, and now there is a
JBA S4 signal vs the S3 background noise level. At 1937 UT I switch to the
ALA-330S Wellbrook, and that helps a little, S5-S6, and can make out some
African?-accented English. At 1950 UT I try the R75 with external 100-foot
east-west longwire, but it's only a JBA carrier that way.

This was the expected reappearance of Radio Free Gambia, which was first
reported last Friday April 15 at this hour by Stephen Cooper; but may have
started April 1 on Fridays only according to an HFCC registration showing
this frequency-hour available 7 days a week for Radio Miami International,
via TDF, Issoudun, FRANCE. RMI was the broker for a previous Gambian
clandestine 5-6 years ago, which may be related.

aehnlichem Namen ?

Re: WHITE NOISE jamming against 17870 Radio Xoriyo Ogaden in Somali.

Actual service provider for the Radio Xoriyo shortwave broadcasts is Media
Broadcast, already since 2000 when they still were a part of Deutsche
Telekom.

The programming itself is said to originate from Toronto. The rather low
profile these transmissions kept throughout the years is surprising,
considering who produces them:

GERMANY 5920 New test series of HCJB Weenermoor Germany with 200 Watt

(Stephan Schaa-D, HCJB Germany, via wwdxc BC-DX TopNews May 6)

Checked that signal at 1930 UT on May 7.
5919.992 kHz exact measured frequency, HCJB German program by male prayer.
In Belgium heard excellent steep fountain SW signal, reception of S=9+10dB
or -56dBm. And on remote units in Switzerland and southern Germany noted
even S=6 or -91dBm.

But Stephan, about your frequency selection:
I noted an annoying UTE digital signal of S=9+5dB strength, broad
bandwidth in range 5916.5 to 5919.2 kHz nearby HCJB 5920 kHz transmission
from Weenermoor !

INDIA 5050 AIR Aizawl, at 1230-1235 UT on April 6. Wonderful to hear
this one again, as they had been silent for about six months; the best
reception for me is this time period when they carry the AIR news in
English, via a relay from New Delhi, which always produces stronger audio
(better modulation level) than the local AIR studio; ID "This is All India
Radio. The news read by ..."; semi-readable as there was QRM from Beibu
Bay Radio (China) also on frequency. AIR with very respectable signal!

[later] Re: AIR Aizawl 5050 kHz reactivated.

QSL card via New Delhi in one month confirming reception of AIR Aizawl;
full data and with site as "Aizawl." This in response to an emailed
reception report to <spectrum-manager -at- air.org.in>

Nice to find they still QSL via Delhi. This is certainly one of my better
AIR QSLs, as this station is not often reported in NoAmerica.

The station was heard for a few days in early April, but has been off the
air again since then.

INDONESIA 9525.897, April 23 at 1240 UT, VOI must have switched
transmitters, back to the off-frequency one after several months close to
9525.0 kHz; some music audible at S4-S7, perhaps OK modulation level
during scheduled Japanese hour. No QRM now from 9520, 9525 or 9530 kHz
stations. Quick recheck at 1322 UT during English, now it's just barely
modulated. At least China is not scheduled on 9525.0 kHz at 14 this
season, but it is at 19-21 UT in Russian, totally blocking VOI English and
French into Europe. Maybe the het will at least bother CRI a bit.

9525.895 April 25 at 1352 UT, VOI very weak carrier measured here during
presumed English hour, and no hets from 9520, 9525 or 9530 kHz.

Heard Voice of Indonesia English in 18 UT slot today. Intelligible, even
if modulation was low. 9526 kHz. I have complained to them over several
years about annual summer clash when English to Europe is ruined by CRI
Russian at 19 UT. I have noticed an occasional time switch in the past -
but usually for a day, like a mistaken scheduling. I hope this is a real
and long overdue change. Even in winter, the propagation conditions would
favour 18 h over 19 UT.

But my correspondence with RRI suggests they don't think too much about
frequencies. They sometimes announce other channels like 15125 kHz which
were used years ago but never in recent times.

Two other concerns:

- They have a holiday contest which looks attractive but they ask for a
copy of your passport to enter.

- Don't complain too aggressively about their shortwave signal or they
might follow others in saying may not be worth all the hassle!

Also hearing Indonesian amateur radio operator, Daud YB01DM in Jakarta
14200/14215 several days this week in 17h slot.

MYANMAR At the beginning of the season I saw a very good reception in
the evening Radio Myanmar in the last hour of broadcast from 16 to 17 UT
hours and in the first hour of the broadcast in the morning from April 23
until the end of the passage in about an hour and a half. In the evening
to 16.00 UT considerable noise created RTOs in Russian on 5990 kHz and
16.00 UT, everything was clean, and you can comfortably listen to the
program of Western pop music with commentary in English. Yesterday at
16:00 UT on 5985 kHz was involved MRK Swahili and completely blocked
Myanmar. Today, history repeated itself. So, it is a constant replacement
rate. Very sorry. And the passage of the morning every day becoming worse.

MYANMAR 7345 Thazin Radio (presumed) in the clear via Pyin Oo Lwin, at
1230-1243 UT on May 5. Very good news here - CNR1 is currently off the

songs and some indigenous music; in vernacular; mostly fair. Very pleasant
listening now!

Australia.

6164.993 Thazin Radio, Pyin U Lwin at 1230 UT on May 6, from northern
bcast center, tiny signal heard in Brisbane Queensland. Though much
stronger co-channel CNR6th program Beijing #491 tx center site, latter
Chinese pop singer program // 9420 kHz.

7344.9965 Thazin Radio, Pyin U Lwin, northern bcast center, poor S=4-5 in
downunder Brisbane SDR unit, at 1242 UT on May 6. Burmese South Asian pop

NETHERLANDS MW geoeffnet fuer Sender bis max. 100 Watt.

ehem. Piratenstation Atlantis Radio 1521 in Friesland sein. Sie hatten
eine Erlaubnis beantragt und inzwischen einen 75-Watt-AM-Sender
angeschafft.
Das Format: Golden Oldies...

747, 828, 1035, and 1251 kHz: 1 to 100 Watts
1395 kHz: only between sunrise and sunset due to an ITU agreement between
The Netherlands and Albania.
1485 kHz: only for 1 Watt stations.

Stations can decide about their own transmission times; so stations can
decide to be on the air only a few hours per day.

Stations are allowed to repeat their transmissions:
100 Watts stations can repeat their transmissions with a transmitter at
least 60 km from the first transmitter.

On 1485 the repeating transmitter distance is at least 1 km.

On the 11th of May the fee for these transmissions will be published.
(Max van Arnhem-HOL, A-DX ng May 5)

NETHERLANDS Today Dutch minister Kamp has made it public that the Medium
Wave band now will be open for low power stations operating with a power
of max. 100 Watt. Full story here (in Dutch):

One of the first stations to go on the air under the new legislation may
be the long time pirate - Atlantis Radio 1521 - in Friesland. They got a
license (?) from Commissariaat voor de Media in March 2016, and they
recently purchased a new 75 W AM transmitter (300 W PEP). The format is
golden oldies - and the station can be heard online here:

<http://www.atlantisradio.eu/radio/>
- and more details can be found here:

15420, Radio Free Sarawak, per Aoki via Palauig-Zambales (Philippines), at
1231-1249 UT on April 27. Normally this band has a black out during their
broadcast, but today was a rare exception; usual chatting on the phone in
vernacular, but what was not usual was a conversation by announcer in the
studio in vernacular with candidate Simon Tiong on the phone, who
responded in English; talking about "All the people of Sarawak" and about
the duties of the Chief Minister to serve all the people.

Back in 2014, RFS often had to change frequencies to try to evade the
heavy jamming, which proved to be so persistent that RFS took a long break
(about a year?) from broadcasting on SW. Since they returned in 2015, I
have not once heard them jammed or seen reports of any jamming. Why did
the jamming not start up again during the past year? A major policy change
by Malaysia? Anyone have any thoughts about this? Thanks for any comments.

Yakutia shortwave restarts. Shortwave broadcasts from Radio Sakha, Sakha
(Yakutia) Republic have resumed after ceasing back in 2010 [March 2011].

7345 kHz audible at 0900 UT today, 7 May with sign on of their evening
broadcast including weather, (via remote rx Global Tuners, Japan),
// weaker 7295 kHz. (maybe audible at night here in UK, though both
frequencies widely used by others, e.g CNR)

Report on resumption of shortwave broadcasts, including TV news reports
online (in Russian) here:

<http://nvk-online.ru/news/6819>

Says shortwave covers 2.5 million square kilometres, 78% of the area of
Yakutia. Shortwave broadcasts had been suspended in 2010, and so the
signal was only audible on FM in towns. Now with launch of shortwave Radio
Yakut, fisherman, hunters and people leading a nomadic lifestyle outside
the settlements can listen.
Thanks to tip from Vasily Gulyaev on WRTH F_B group, 6 May.

The Sakha Republic covers such a huge area, it spans three time zones.

It is also renowned for recording some of the lowest temperatures ever.

Nomadenleben fuehren.

The announcement of the air times - in Sakha Yakutia local time - I know,
dating back from the preparation period, went:

Monday - Friday 0900-1200 LT, 1500-1700 UT, 2100-0000 LT.
Saturday / Sunday 1000-1700 UT, 2100-0000 UT.

Must refer to Yakutsk time I think, so that would be Mon-Fri 0000-0300,
0600-0800 and 1200-1500 UT. Sat-Sun 0100-0800 and 1200-1500 UT,
if correct.
Any other primary or at least secondary sources, anyone?

It appears that simply RTRS (the transmitter operator) went to
Roskomnadzor (the regulation authority) and obtained the authorization for
these transmissions, bypassing those people in Moscow that once had been
associated with the late Anatoly Titov and still put their wishful
thinking into HFCC (most of it with Radio Sputnik in mind while neither
Rossiya Segodnya nor anyone else intends to spend a single Kopeka on
shortwave radio anymore). Thus lots of Russian wood in HFCC but not the
now real transmissions from Tulagino.

7345 kHz. Re: Yakutia (Russia) on Shortwave from today.

Early this morning sent a message to be posted to dxld yg, but seem it got
lost, as it is now over 12 hours later, so will now mention again that
while listening to Thazin Radio (Pyin Oo Lwin in Myanmar) on 7345 kHz, did
in fact have QRM from UNID that I believe must have been the new Russian
station on May 6. Sorry I did not note the time this morning, as most of
my activity today was listening to other Asian and Pacific stations. UNID
was about equal strength to Thazin.

May 7, heard Radio Sakha on 7295 kHz (very weak the whole time) // 7345
kHz which was many times stronger; 7345 kHz had poor to almost fair
reception. Heard with no QRM on either frequency. Easy to ID with
distinctive IS and also "Radio Sakha" IDs. Here are today's highlights:

0852 UT Decent level open carrier.
0900 UT Brief IS (Jew's harp); 3 time pips; announcers for about
10 minutes (news?); assume in Russian (or at times today in Yakut
        [a.k.a. Sakha]?).

0909-1000 UT Very nice music program (ballads, pop songs, etc.).
0950 UT clear "Radio Sakha" ID; 0957-1000 UT: musical montage.
1000 UT time pips; announcer (news?)

I haven't managed to catch SIBC when it was extending day frequency 9545

May 1 still going past 1000 UT as others captured.

13820.1305 approx., May 2 at 1240 UT, JBA carrier. These off-frequency
ones are always intriguing. Aoki shows Radio Free Asia in Burmese via UAE,
which is notorious for frequency inaccuracy, so that's probably it.
Aoki doesn't show many precise frequencies but it also does have this:

"13820.209 2120-1400 UT TWN SOH Xi Wang Zhi Sheng Chinese? 1-7"
This userlist1 version suppresses power info, but very likely is one of
those 0.1 kW nuisance transmitters to tie up jammers, doubtful what I am
getting.

THAILAND/CHINA 17485 kHz VoA Tibetan sce from Udorn Thani scheduled
at 14-15 UT on Mon, Wed, and Fri only, suffer usually by China mainland
jamming co-channel.

But today Friday they forget to switch off that S=9+45dB jamming signal
powerhouse. Was still on air at 1530-1540 UT slot, when checked even here
in Europe. Jamming signal is exact 10 kHz bandwidth wide block visible on
screen, +3 kHz addit extra wide low power noise either sideband.

The remaining VoA 9920, 17580, and 17760 kHz channels were undisturbed
though.

TURKEY 17770.061 on May 4 at 1424 UT, very poor S6 signal
off-frequency. Of course, it's VOT as scheduled in Arabic this hour,

the high side. Tur calibration leaves a bit to be desired.

UNIDENTIFIED 12015, May 5 at 1404 UT, S=9+20dB VG signal with gospel?
rock, then guitar riffs like Jimi, then some vocal music in English, 1406
UT cut to dead air, 1407:45* UT off the air, *1408:20 UT back on, with
carrier, 1409:20 UT resume rockmusic, live concert with applause, 1412:26
UT cut off the air again and stays off past 1420 UT, 1442 UT when I quit
monitoring.

This was atop the pervasive RTTY on 12015 kHz, and so strong it had to be
a US site, two of them with the oomph and flexibility to do this:
WHRI and Greenville-B.

Or maybe WRMI, but its 11565 kHz aimed 315 degrees right at us, is weaker
at only S=9+10dB. Yet US stations prudently avoid this RTTY frequency,
12015.

VOA often does transmitter tests about this time, on a frequency different
than a later scheduled broadcast, but ought to be on same band, and
nothing on 25mb from GB except R. Marti already on 11930 kHz from 1400 UT.
No listings on 12015 kHz account for this, and it's certainly not Mongolia
or North Korea.

USA 15560 on May 1 at 0016 UT in routine bandscan, here's Brother
HyStairical on a new frequency, and it's synchro with WRMI 5765 kHz. So #5
transmitter on 285 degree azimuth must have been moved from 6915 to 15560
kHz, but 24 hours, or not? WRMI skedgrid still shows 6915 24 hours. 15560
kHz already has several other stations on it during the day, including
KSDA but no CONUS.

7490.0-AM, April 30 at 2342 UT, J. P. on 'Shortwave Saturday Night' is
advising a caller about antennas. Seems WBCQ frequencies have been
adjusted, maybe only a few Hz off 7490 instead of 7489.9 kHz, and 9330-
CUSB with WOR an hour earlier was spot-on; for now. I think 5130 kHz was
still lo but didn't measure it in the noise, and nothing from 3250 kHz.
