TONY'S 10 METRE BAND REPORT - November 24, 2016

November 24, 2016

Not the most prolific week for 10m contacts. Some DX about TL8AO (Central African Republic), 9Z4Y (Trinidad and Tobago), ZV2TA (Tamanduá Is Brazil) and 5Z4/DJ6TF (Kenya) to name just 4.

Mark, 9Z4Y , yet again manages to spot other stations despite often being the biggest DX on air. More power to your key board my friend. I keep listening for you but the path to the UK isn’t good at the moment.

Check out his QRZ.com page, I got a mention on there!

Sun: Almost invisible sunspot AR2611 poses no threat for strong solar flares.
At the end of October, a hole in the sun's atmosphere lashed Earth's magnetic field with solar wind, sparking moderately-strong geomagnetic storms and almost a full week of Arctic auroras. News flash: It's back. The same "coronal hole" is turning toward Earth again. Coronal holes are regions in the sun's atmosphere where the magnetic field peels back and allows solar wind to escape. Since our last encounter with this hole in late October it has been transiting the far side of the sun, carried around by the sun's 27-day rotation. Now that it is back we can see that the hole is not quite as large as it was a month ago--but it is still impressive, covering more than 1/4th of the visible solar disk. (spaceweather.com)

Stoke City lost 0 – 1 to Bournemouth. Oh boy did we miss some chances and a penalty! 3 points given away. Watford away this coming Sunday at midday, I have a ticket
