ALBANIA Radio Tirana morning sce to Balkan neighbouring states heard

1394.905 kHz measured exact frequency of Fllake Albania MW center,
weak signal peak seen, no audio heard in Riviera Italy remote SDR post,
at 0954 UT on November 21.

7389.976 kHz S=9+10dB or -63dBm signal,
BUT BUZZY AUDIO SIGNAL as usual, at 0948 UT,
listen to enclosed recording of this morning November 21.

Scratchy audio noise like visible on Perseus software screen:

24 x 100 Hertz distance apart peaks visible of carrier,

fair audio signal heard on Forli-Rimini-Bologna Italy remote SDR post,
at 0945 UT on November 25.

7389.976 kHz S=9+10dB or -63dBm signal,

at 0950 UT on Nov 25.

Slight scratchy audio noise, only 5 x 100 Hertz distance apart peaks
visible of carrier, plus 50 Hertz peak too; either sideband.

8 kHz wide signal, much better than scratchy type in past 6 months.

ALBANIA RT English at 0230 UT on Nov 22, to GB/IRL and North America
checked. Nothing above threshold heard on Detroit MI, NY, NJ,
and MA-US East Coast units !

But surprisingly nice Radio Tirana signal
(like from Greece and Turkey also tonight)
noted in Doha Qatar(!), Belgium, Netherlands, England, Spain, and Germany
remote SDR units.
S=9+25dB or -45dBm signal strength on 7474.974 kHz.

Little audio scratch noted of
10 x 100 Hertz apart distance from carrier,
main power buzz peaks visible and and to be listen too.

Same condition also on Nov 24 and 25.

Radio Tirana English service at 0230-0258 UT on Nov 25.

NOTHING NOTED again in all North American east coast software
defined radios tonight,

not heard in NJ-US, MA-US, NY-US,
Detroit Michigan, Dunmore Canada, nor in Edmonton Alberta Canada.

But heard fair signal of S=9+15 to +20dB
all over Europe and even in Doha Qatar - Saudi Peninsula.

Proper signals from Shijak heard in Moscow Russia,
northern Sweden, Poland, Bavaria Germany, Holland, Belgium, Madrid Spain,
Genua Italy.

Distorted audio scratch signal same like described above.
(and heard on recording of November 24 yesterday).

ANGOLA 4949.7, on Nov 25 at 0039 UT, no carrier from RNA, so it seems
they are off completely, meaning another SWBC country kaput; or just no
longer running all-night (which is about the only time we could hear
them)?
(Glenn Hauser-OK-USA, dxld Nov 25)

... if 4949.7 kHz is on air throughout local evenings, it's supposed that
a least a carrier should make it over to Europe. It's been pretty reliable
throughout the past few years. But already a few days ago I noted it
missing, also yesterday not heard checking a few times before 1800 till
after 2200 UT.

Pretty unlikely that conditions didn't allow it unless power was reduced
by factor 100 or so (Conditions weren't that bad:
Madagascar 5013v ->  5012.5 kHz
was fairly strong before 1900 UT and a carrier on 5020 kHz, likely
Solomons, was clearly detectable from before 1800 UT to late at night).
Checked 7217 kHz if Angola moved back there but no trace also.
(Thorsten Hallmann-D, dxld Nov 25)

ANTARCTICA 15475.95 LRA36, R Nacional Arcangel San Gabriel, Base
Esperanza, at 1835-2140* UT on Nov 7, at first only carrier detected,
later talks and music, but extremely weak, barely audible, but later
better with comments and songs. Also heard at 1959-2100v* UT on Nov 9, 10
and 11, English pop songs and songs in Spanish, male comments in Spanish.
Very weak but best signal and whitout noise on USB, 14321.
(Manuel Mendez-ESP, dswci DXW #568 via AP via wwdxc BC-DX TopNews Nov 16)

Also heard in Chile at 2050 UT on Nov 8, Spanish music, signal acceptable
with deep fading at times, 35333. On other days only a carrier.
(Hugo Lopez-CHL, dswci DXW #568 via AP via wwdxc BC-DX TopNews Nov 16)

ARGENTINA 11710.740 kHz RAE Buenos Aires unstable fq,

ARMENIA Special transmission on Monday, November 28.

"Radio. Menschen & Geschichten" goes international.

On Monday, 28th November 2016 from 2000-2030 UTC
on 6005 kHz (to Scandinavia and UK)

and on Tuesday, 29th November 2016 from 0230-0300 UTC
on 7360 {not 7250} kHz (to NoAM) we will broadcast our first English
edition.

The topics: we speak with Rimantas Pleikys about radio jamming in former
times and today. He wrote a book about it and made a very interesting film
documentary.

And: 4 years ago, on 28th November 2012, Radio Canada International shut
down the Sackville transmission site. 2 years later the facility was
scrapped. Amanda Dawn Christie made a film called Spectres of Shortwave
that is shown at diverse film festivals at the moment. She tells the story
behind the film.

By the way: Spectres of Shortwave is shown on 28th November in Sackville
at 7PM local time. Perhaps you want to join it.

All broadcasts are coming from Gavar Armenia site with a power of 100 kW,
at azimuth of 330 degrees.

CHINA [and non] 7410, Nov 17 at 1301 UT, looking for Shiokaze, but all
I hear is Japanese from CRI, but very strange music underneath, sure
sounds like tune of "Jesus Saves", as used by FEBC Philippines for IS!

Exactly: FEBC runs Cambodian on 7410 kHz at 1200-1300 UT, so running a bit
over. Ivo Ivanov also heard this until 1302 UT but doesn't mention CRI.
(Glenn Hauser-OK-USA, dxld Nov 17)

Back on Nov 6, at 1158 UT, on 7410, heard the FEBC IS in the clear, before
the strong sign on at *1200 UT of CRI, which was too strong to make out
much from FEBC after 1200 UT.
(Ron Howard-CA-USA, dxld Nov 17)

7410 re comments: CRI Russian from powerhouse 500 kW Shijiazhuang
location site, heard start at 12.00:05 UT exact, on Nov 18.

FEBC Bocaue interval signal was underneath, when heard in Tokyo remote SDR
unit this noon.

GERMANY [and Armenia, Austria, France relays] NDR 24 Dec transmission.

The Christmas Eve seafarer transmission of Norddeutscher Rundfunk will
this year involve a sixth transmitter at a new site, Gavar (Armenia).
It will beam back to Europe itself, to replace the closed mediumwave
transmitters.

Actually this is a year late, since NDR had closed down mediumwave already
on 13 Jan 2015. But the start of the whole thing in 2012 was already a
year late as well, with German-language radio from Deutsche Welle gone
since 30 Oct 2011.

Details for this year are as follows. Transmission will run from
1900 to 2300, where two frequencies are given they are for 1900-2100
and 2100-2300, respectively.

Nauen:
6125 / 5930, 125 kW, 250 deg; to WeEUR, northern Atlantic and Carribean
 9740 / 9765, 125 kW, 130 deg; to Indian Ocean

Moosbrunn:
 9790 / 9650, 100 kW, 115 deg; to So/SoEa Asia and Australia

Issoudun:
 9800 / 9590, 250 kW, 156 deg; to Ea/So AF and Indian Ocean
11650 / 9830, 250 kW, 195 deg; to western AF, southern Atlantic and SoAM

Gavar:
6145, 100 kW, 305 deg; to the whole of Europe

All transmissions through dipole walls, all powers above 100 kW are
dictated by the equipment (500 kW transmitters at Nauen and Issoudun, of
which the Telefunken ones at Nauen can be run at 25 percent but the
Thomson-CSF ones at Issoudun not lower than at half power).

Network source should be NDR Info Spezial, if you want to refer to
<http://www.ndr.de/radio/index.html>

Perhaps I now shatter a romantic illusion, but this is not live, with the
exception of news at 1900 and 2100 UT and, maybe, the also included church
service. The greetings will be recorded in the presence of an audience in
two sessions on Dec 4 and 11, respectively.

By the way, anyone knowing a programme that until 1990 had been broadcast,
it seems, once a month? "Seeleute-Gruss- und Wunschsendung", that was the
title at least on paper. It run in the local wee hours of Monday (local
time), 2305-0100 UT (during DST one UT hour earlier) on 177 and 6115 kHz,
originating from Rostock and indeed done live there. I don't know if
anyone abroad, even overseas, knew about these broadcasts and wrote to
Rostock, which very likely would have yielded a QSL.

GERMANY/ARMENIA Special Radio Transmission of Shortwaveservice
in Nov / Dec 2016.

Hoererschaft moeglicherweise dann schon ab Januar 2017 sechs Stunden

Jordan Heyburn moderierte Sendung Golden 80s Rewind.

Menschen & Geschichten
sind am 27. November 2016

Wiederholt wird die Ausgabe am darauffolgenden Wochenende,
dem 4. Dezember 2016, 19-20 UTC auf 6145 kHz,
via Sender Noratus Gavar Armenien, 100 kW

Als besonderes Bonbon werden wir die Sendung Radio. Menschen & Geschichten
in einer englischsprachigen Variante ausstrahlen. Radio. People & Stories

in which the segment "Good neighbors make good friends" talked about
differences between walking or riding in Australia and Indonesia;
semi-readable; certainly one of their better Thursday receptions.

ITALY At certain times RAI 1 split their programme, beginning at about
2120-2130 local time (2020-2030 UT). This happens on several days of the
week, when an announcement in Italian is broadcast mentioning that on
medium wave follows a so called "descripciomi audio" broadcast, the normal
RAI Uno programme will continue on FM. However there is one observed
exception, namely the transmitter on 999 kHz continues also with the
normal RAI Uno programme. The special programme on the other medium wave
frequencies consist usually of radio plays inclusive music.

TURKEY/SYRIA TRT morning MW service checked at 0415 UT on Nov 24.

On remote SDR unit in Zakynthos island in Greece
heard the TRT morning services on November 24:

1062 TUR acc MW lists TRT Diyarbakir,
nothing could be observed EXCEPT HEAVY ignition BUBBLE JAMMING here,
at S=9+10dB level.

Strange jamming tac-tac-tac 'motorboating' jamming noted on some Spanish,
Italian, Bavarian, Austrian, and Hungarian remote SDR posts, underneath
Czech "Country Radio" program from Prague, and their time pips at 0430 UT
heard too.

Probably jamming originate by security organization in the
Turkish/Syrian/Kurdish, / Muslim-Islamic state Iraq war zone?

There are a lot of war zones on Kurdish national settlements, in
Diyarbakir Turkey, the Turks against 25 Million Kurds, some complicated
civil war in Syria, of regular government against
rebell/partisans/terrorists supported by Middle East Qatar, Saudi Arabia,
Bahrain and Erdogan's Turkey also.

Also support to Syria official country by Russia and Iran forces.
And midst and around on the muslim IS state, the US, and other NATO
supporters, midst also German airforce observation clearing and rocket
base near Incirlik Turkey Air Base ...

Underneath motorboating jamming: RAI Italy and Czech Country Radio Prague

// TRT program on both, station ID at 0424 UT.
926.995 TUR TRT Izmir in Turkish, much strong S=9+35dB,
also
891 even TUR TRT Antalya, S=9+45dB observed at 0415 UT on Nov 24.
I guess Algerian Radio test tone procedure co-channel UNDERNEATH ?

Re: [mwoffsets] TRT morning MW at 0415 UT on Nov 24 and 25.

Hi Wolfie ! Many thanks for writing !
About the 'moto-boat' ignition tac-tac type jamming I wrote in previous
years, let once again.

On MW 1062 kHz is an official government of Turkey program in Kurdish
language, but jammed for (just) two years from Syria. It is well heard
here in the early morning before s/on of co-channel Italy and checked with
primitive loop antenna 1m x 1m quadrat and old tube rx.

BTW in Turkey already DST goes on also in Winter season; they are now (for
the 1st time) on UTC=+3hrs, same case zone as in western Russia, Armenia,
Iran etc.

Now in Bulgaria on MW are well heard the following stations from there:

0256-0258 UT IS, ID of TRT Radio Antalya on 630, 891 kHz.

0258-0300 UT The National Anthem of Turkey on 630, 891, 927, and 954 kHz.

0300-approx 0600 TRT 1 program in Turkish on 891, 927, 954 kHz;

and Voice of Turkey in Arabic on 630 kHz. Here confirmed also afternoon
from 1800 UTC. 0230-0450 UT TRT Kurdish Service.

[SYRIA] re 1062 kHz TRT morning MW at 0415 UT on November 24.

"moto-boat' type ignition jamming observed even on air early at tune-in
around 0240 UT on Nov 25, when checked and heard S=9+20dB signal strength
jamming.,

Strongest jamming signal noted on remote Bologna-Forli-Rimini Italy SDR
installation, but also heard proper at Belgium, the Netherlands, Bavaria
Germany, Northern Sweden, Genua Italy, Madrid Spain, Zakynthos island in
Greece, Warsaw Poland, western Hungary, eastern Austria, and at Moscow
Russia remote SDR's,

BUT heard NOT at Doha Qatar SDR unit. 73 wolfy
