Kabul - never heard here in past two weeks - so far - on Dec 4 at 1630 UT
heard only KCBS Pyongyang some shrill voices of lady singers heard at
S=8 level. wb.

ALBANIA   RT English from interval signal at 02.26 UT on Dec 3 onwards
only reliable S=8-9 signal strength in Europe,

but not in North America,
only threshold level tiny S=4 or -98dBm strength
in NJ, NY, MA, and MI-USA remote posts.

But nice S=9+5dB signal from Albania in Doha Qatar remote SDR post
at 0235 UT on Dec 3.

7474.975 kHz Shijak signal in Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands
from 0226 UT on Dec 3 signing-on onwards.
8 x 100 Hertz distorted audio peaks visible either sideband.

Comparision other broadcaster in Germany:
7483 RTTY UTE S=9+10dB at 0221 UT on Dec 3
7340 ROU  RRI S=9+50dB powerhouse, S=9 in USA
7410 ROU  RRI S=9+30dB powerful,   S=9 in USA
7435 USA  Radio Marti Greenville NC, S=9+20dB in Germany.

"tiny S=4 or -98dBm strength".

(wb  df5sx, wwdxc BC-DX TopNews Dec 3)

ARMENIA/SRI LANKA/USA    RMRC Frankfurt/Main Germany.
Special DSWCI-end final convention in Kalundborg Denmark programme.
It would be nice if all these sources got together with accurate info.

Contradictory info on date for the Gavar Yerevan Armenia broadcast,
THIS Saturday, not Dec 17 - which is it?

2016-12-03 {Sat Dec 17, see below} 2000-2100 UTC 6145 kHz
RMRC of DSWCI Radio Club feature of final convention in Kalundborg
Denmark,
via Noratus Yerevan Gavar Armenia relay 100 kW towards Europe
(Christian Milling-D, A-DX Nov 26 via Wolfgang Bueschel, dxld)

DSWCI  DXW info also shows Dec 4 at 2030 UT on 11580 kHz WRMI Florida USA,
matching part 2 a week later, omitted below.

As for the Sri Lanka broadcasts, early info two weeks ago from DSWCI DXW
said the 1000 UT broadcast would be on 11835 kHz, as below, but later info
from this week replaces that with 11730 kHz, and on Sunday Dec 4,
not Saturday Dec 3.

To EUROPE:
Sat 03 Dec 2016 from 1930-2030 UTC on 9715 kHz 350 deg 125 kW.

RMRC Radio via SLBC Trincomalee Sri Lanka relay 1930-2030 UT on Dec 3.

S=9 in Toter Zone of TDF Issoudun 9710 kHz. S=3 Sidelobe signal
in Doha Qatar ME.

Zentral-Schweden, Ipswich
England, Manchester England, Ireland, Madrid Spain, Genua Italy,

Kopf-Schuettel ueber dies Frequenzwahl.

BVB Moosbrunn S=9+20dB in Calabria Italy, S=9+10dB in Genua Riviera Italy,
S=8-9 in Manchester England. S=9+10dB in Ireland. S=9+20dB Signal in
Madrid Spain.

still S=9 Signal in der Ost Steiermark Austria,
20.29:02 UTC, SLBC tx Trincomalee OFF switch.
(wb  df5sx, wwdxc BC-DX TopNews Dec 3)

RMRC Radio 5850 kHz via RMI Okeechobee Florida relay,
0015 UT not much strong even in North AM,
S=9 in NJ / NY,
S=8-9 in MI-US,
S=7 in Alberta Canada.
After Cello instrument mx end,
now Andean flute mx at 23.28 UT.

Very tiny surprisingly in all remote European installations.

<http://www.rhci-online.net/radiogram/VoA_Radiogram_2016-11-26.htm>

so let wait for 11580 kHz at 2330 UT,
at 2320 UT RMI Russian heard,
S=4 on threshold level on both NJ, MI, and Alberta.
Weak even on RMI 44degr azimuth antenna bcast.
(wb  df5sx, wwdxc BC-DX TopNews Dec 3)

Re 11730 kHz RMRC Aussendung ueber SLBC Trincomalee bcast center Dec 4

in Tokyo Japan remote Perseus SDR unit S=5-6 -96dBm,
in remote Doha Qatar rather S=7 or -84dBm.
Englischer Talk um 10.40 UT ueber Anker Petersen Denmark,
'Spasiba' in Russian at 10.41 UT,
now Japan national interview,  ? Ohtake ? 10.43 UT.

AUSTRALIA/VANUATU   From the ABC concerning Radio Australia ...

ABC decision to halt shortwave broadcasts criticised Audio Pacific Beat.

A decision by the ABC to halt shortwave broadcasts early next year has
been criticised by a former manager of Radio Australia.

broadcasts/8097728>

ABC shortwave: senior diplomat calls for re-investment of saved money
Audio Pacific Beat.

The ABC's shortwave transmission service that broadcasts Radio Australia -
and Pacific Beat - across the Pacific is to be shutdown at the end of
January 2017

calls-for-re/8098936>
(RA Pacific Beat, via gh, dxld Dec 7)

Radio Australia's "Pacific Beat" program is right now (0505 UT) reporting
on the decision to close shortwave service. It gives the end date as 31
January 2017, not the 17th. The program is running an interview from RA's
former director who is robustly criticizing the decision. He says many
Radio Australia listeners in the Pacific will lose service, pointing out
that many in the region can't afford listening on mobile phones, etc.
He says RA has been severely neglected and damaged by the ABC and the
government, adding that the Australian public doesn't realize this.
I'm recording this via a SDR in Tasmania on 15415 kHz.
(Andy Robins-MI-USA, dxld Dec 7)

Jean-Gabriel Manguy was head of Radio Australia until 2007 and then joined
the management group of PACMAS which is active in supporting and
developing media in the Pacific.

<http://www.pacmas.org/about/management-group/>

He was making the same point as he does on Pacific Beat about lack of
maintenance of FM transmitters only last year in connection with Radio
Vanuatu.

Despite millions of dollars being poured into it, Vanuatu's public
broadcaster remains, by the government's own admission, hamstrung.

DENMARK   On November 18, 2016, it was 60 years ago, since the DSWCI was
established in a Danish town and soon became the most international
Club for Broadcast DX-ers in the world!

Today we have 227 members living in 33 countries.
In total we have had 3786 members. During these 60 years the DSWCI
has only had three Chairmen:

Niels Jacob Jensen 1956-1962,
Anker Petersen 1963-1972,
Carol Feil 1972-1981,
when he immigrated to USA, and
Anker Petersen 1981-2016.

The main Editors in Chief of Shortwave News were Kaj Bredahl Jorgensen
1968-1972, Carol Feil 1972-1980 and Kaj Bredahl Jorgensen again 1981-2016.
Our main Treasurer has been Bent Nielsen 1972-2016.

The very active members from all parts of the world have always sent a lot
of valuable contributions to a very stable staff of international editors.
Thank you so much for that!

ERITREA   7146v, 7175/7180/7185 kHz, on Dec 6 at 0412 UT, no VOBMEs
audible, not even carriers, whilst 7205 kHz Sudan and 7120 kHz Somaliland
are audible. Sure wish we had a definite schedule for VOBME, but
apparently irregular, and wonder if they will vanish again from 40 meters?

ERITREA-non/ETHIOPIA-yes
I guess Asmara Eritrea had left 7146v and 7175 kHz channels already this
morning, when checked before 0600 UT Dec 9, but heard a poor signal of HoA
music on 7174.990 kHz in progress at 0606 UT on Dec 9, so seemingly one of
the 'program jammer' from Ethiopian soil still on air, latter mostly
xxxx.991 kHz oddity, heard also 0608-0610 UT. S=5 poor tiny -94dBm signal

frequency (ex: 9525.9 kHz); noted at 1559 UT in stilted Chinese;

Perhaps Wolfy, et al., can check this out for me with an exact readout.

INDONESIA   9526.049, on Dec 8 at 1246 UT, JBA carrier from VOI,
reactivated Dec 5 after several days off, slightly new frequency, ex
9525.9v kHz, so is this a different transmitter? Certainly no better than
the old one as far as being too weak, and undermodulated?
(Glenn Hauser-OK-USA, hcdx and dxld Dec 8)

> is this a different transmitter ... ?

Noted similar oddity of plus 50 Hertz, xxxx.050v kHz in past decade on
RRI Kang Guru Indonesia domestic program from Cimanggis bcast TX site
on 9680.049v .... 9680.053v kHz, in 2011y. Was also mostly low modulated
then.

A decade ago, they had left three TX out of six Marconi delivery in 1994-
1995 year. Remaining units are used as spare parts for repair actions in
the past.

9525.998 kHz measured now, centered fq on Mandarin language sce of

PHILIPPINES   Radyo Pilipinas.

One of the things I'm enjoying about all of these online SDR receivers is
the ability to clearly receive stations that stubbornly refuse to
propagate into my neck of the woods.

Radyo Pilipinas (the "Voice of the Philippines") in Manila is a case
in point. It's English-language broadcast on 19 and 16 mbs from 0200
to 0330 UT just doesn't cut it here in Michigan. But DZRP puts a
great signal into South Korea, as this recording of the segment
"It's More Fun in the Philippines" demonstrates.

This was at 0300 UT on 17820 kHz (US IBB BBG Tinang-PHL relay site) via a
KiwiSDR receiver at Anyang, South Korea. Note that Radyo Pilipinas still
announces its call letters. It's about the only international station that
does so (Radio Thailand's call HSK9 shows up in print sometimes but
I can't recall them announcing it on-air, at least recently).

distorted, splattering plus/minus 10; 1859 UT Spanish ID and off before
1900* UT. No formal sign off and no English, and no 'Frecuencia al Dia' as
they played one week ago on Friday. Was not audible at all from *1400 UT
nominal sign-on, westward MUF not built up yet if really on.

17775, Nov 28 at 1505 UT, KVOH is S=9+20dB but with strange noises! Soon
explained as example of ET signals on 'Frecuencia al Dia'. That's the lead
story on this episode: "EE.UU. - La Radio, la "Gran Oreja" y la Senal Wow!
Informe con Eusebio Sanchez" about SETI at Ohio State. Wrong program!
Mondays at 1500 UT on KVOH sked is supposed to be the other Spanish media
show, 'Antena DX', with FAD at same times on Fridays.

Next item is monthly DX report from Pedro Sedano of AER, who claims that
Cairo in Spanish at 0045 UT is on 9315 and 12005 kHz - but I've heard no
trace of the terrible transmitter on 9315 kHz since B-16 began; good
riddance.

KVOH carrier is wobbly as usual. Still, no sign of the 'new' transmitter
they have been trying to install for months/years, and no sign of resuming
English evenings on 9975 kHz.

17775, Nov 29 at 2036 UT, KVOH is still on more than a sesquihour after
nominal 1900 UT sign-off, with praise music in Spanish splattering about
12 kHz above and below, not quite reaching 17790 kHz WRMIBS.

Last week I was driving around Vatican City and I have notice that the
cage dipole used for the 4005 khz (no longer on the schedule..)
transmission is no longer here, it's been taken down.

Look this two different photos:

<http://www.mediasuk.org/appoggio/vatican_dipole.jpg>

So no more direct trasmission on HF from Vatican City Garden anymore,
only from Santa Maria di Galeria.

From SW TXsite: - Hi Andrea, Thanks very much for the update & pics.
I don't think I ever saw that caged dipole before. But found it on
historical Google SV & Maps from your photos - just now.

For some reason I always thought (obviously incorrectly) that the 4005 kHz
(3975/6075/7250) kHz transmission emanated from one of the 2 HF Yagi style
LP antennas. I see in SV May 2014 that the caged dipole also missing, but
was definitely there in Google June 2013 aerial imagery.

Lange zusammengestellt. Sie werden durch aktuelle Interviews und Musik
ergaenzt. {* probably via Yerevan Gavar Armenia SW TX site}
