TONY'S 10 METRE BAND REPORT - January 26, 2016

January 26, 2016

This week was not good so to get into the list needs more that one contact.
Most popular DX CA3HSC (Chile), PJ2/K8ND (Curacao), 9Z4Y (Trinidad and Tobago), ZS4L (South Africa) and PY2LED (Brazil)

Sunday, on data mode, Mike, ZS6AI, worked EU7FBB -16, IU8ANM -8, EA8/YL3AKQ -7, S51AF -1, G3ZHL -6, EA3KZ -8, EA5IDQ -6, SV3DVO -8, F4HMR -11 and F1GTU -9.

He says, “I was monitoring 10m for about 15 minutes and sent a few CQs, nothing, so I spot myself on the cluster and within minutes the band was alive! I had the QSOs from 11:10 UTC to 12:11 UTC. I then went to 12m and had a few QSOs. It just proves everyone listens and no one transmits!” That is more or less what I said last week. People frown on self spotting but sometimes it’s what the band needs to shake everyone up! I tried it on Monday but had no takers.

Me, I worked nothing. The band was so quiet and I had a few jobs to do. I did venture on to 18m and 20m but we won’t mention that.

Sun: Currently there are 4 sunspots. 24 hours ago, sunspot AR2629 was barely visible.  Today it has two dark cores each larger than Earth. Watch the rapid genesis of this new active region in a movie from NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory.  So far, the baby sunspot poses no threat for strong solar flares; its magnetic field is too stable for such explosions. (spaceweather.com).

Stoke City were robbed of a 3rd home win against Manchester United by a 94th minute goal by Wayne Rooney. I have to admit (grudgingly) that it was a cracker.

West Brom (or as they as increasingly being called Albion) this weekend. We need to catch them up.
