TONY'S 10 METRE BAND REPORT - March 2, 2016

14:19 Fernando Luiz de Souza 0 Comments

March 2, 2016

Well I’m still away in OZ, not working anyone on their repeaters just like being back in the UK.

For the next few days we are stuck out at Boomerang Beach off the Atlantic Coast road, just too awful for words. Sand, sea, steak and a luxury apartment. Oh! I can’t wait to get back to the UK.

VP6EU (Central African Republic) has just about run its course with LU9DCE (Argentina), XX9D (Macau) and FR4QT (Reunion Is) stepping in to keep up the quality.

Steve, G4HTZ, said “Just set up on wspr ..delta loop ..surprised to hear and be spotted by VK2KRR...band not as dead as it seems on 10m”. That was Tuesday.

And here’s a guy we’ve not heard from for a while, YV4RED, Rafal.

He worked LU3EJW -15 @1717 and LW5DUS -15 @1720 on Friday.

Both on data modes.

Rafael, YV5RED, added a late report and he really shows that 10m was open on Wednesday. Again on data modes worked LU4XAP -05 @1946, N4BHL -18 @2010, LU8XAF -18 @2022, NO4J -01 @2030, LU8XAF -18 @2048, KK4RDI -05 @2104, PY2JZ -04 @2114, PY2HH -05 @2128, NM1W -19 @2136, PU2SDW -12 @2208, W4DQ -01 @2238, PT2ARR -10 @2320, N6DNM -13 @2330.
He heard: PY2PAL -2 @1943, PY1ITS -13 @1945, PY4OM -8 @1949, AD7V -12 @1951, N4BLH -5 @1953, KK4YGZ -1 @1959, N6PDB -20 @2011, PY2WAL -8 @2017, WB2QJ -1 @2023, KK4RDI -4 @2029, N6PDB -12 @2035, FG5BZ -14 @2039, PY2VOA -4 @2039, PU2MUS -3 @2041, LU4XAP -7 @2101, LU2FHX -17 @2111, PY2EPL -7 @2118, N8RJP -20 @2118, K7IPP -8 @2121, K6ME -10 @2127, PU2NAX -3 @2137, NP3B -19 @2203, LU7ECO -15 @2217, N8CDY -21 @2217, WB6NGC -16 @2221, XE2RCS -1 @2227, KD2HHT -20 @2251, N5JS -20 @2251, PU2NPK -13 @2301, W6WA -14 @2312, K5ROE -23 @2313, KP4TG -11 @2329, CX8AF -18 @2335, AF6JO -10 @2357.

He comments “From 1942 to 0022 UTC / As expected, a high speed solar wind stream arrived past Earth within the past 24 hours and was responsible for minor (G1) geomagnetic storming at high latitudes. Additional periods of storming will remain possible over the next day or so while the stream is geoeffective (info taken from Solarham.net)”.

Sun: Suddenly, the region around sunspot AR2641 is crowded with dark cores. This rapidly changing sunspot could soon pose a threat for flares if its growth proceeds apace. (spaceweather.com)

Stoke lost 4 – 0, again to Spurs at the weekend! Becoming a bit of a habit losing by 4 goals to Spurs. Middlesbrough this Saturday. A must win at home for Stoke. We will need the points as the following week it’s Man City away then Chelsea at home!
