TONY'S 10 METRE REPORT - 10/05/2012

10 May, 2012

Tony Dixon G4CJC
Not the greatest of conditions with Wednesday through to Friday being really flat bringing back memories of 2 years back.
The weekend rallied with 7O6T (Yemen) being up there and in demand with some of the biggest daily totals for a none contest station I’ve seen for a long time. ZW7R (Brazil) got there on Monday though.
Simon, XZ1K, Myanmar (Burma), obviously reads this column. He says, “Tony - per your last 10m report, I did initial 10m SSB tests on Thursday 3rd May, with 74 contacts (mostly JA) in lousy conditions. I should be back on the air hopefully from next week with a daily schedule, according to my work commitments.”Excellent, Simon I will give you a call, not that I would want any favouritism to creep in! I can’t believe that QSL card on QRZ.com is you.
A couple of weeks back I featured a bottle of Morse Code Shiraz red wine, and pretty good it was too.
Here is a pic of the equivalent Chardonnay. I don’t drink it so I cannot vouch for it but our local Tesco sells it.

Sun: One of the largest sunspot groups in years rotated over the sun's northeastern limb this weekend.
With a least four dark cores larger than Earth, AR1476 sprawls more than 100,000 km from end to end, and makes an easy target for backyard solar telescopes.
Amateur astronomer Alan Friedman sends this picture of the whopper from his backyard in Buffalo, NY.

Stoke lost in the 89th minute to QPR. They really needed that win to stay up. We play Bolton next Sunday. All the Premiership teams play at the same time on the last day of the season. Bolton need to win to stay up. We want to beat them as we lost to them 5 – 0 earlier and its our last home match.
