5H, TANZANIA Chas,NK8O/VE3ISD, is visiting to Mwanza on Lake Victoria for several years now but this time he plans his first amateur radio operation in CW signing 5H9CP with a KX3 (QRP) from Jun 11-22. The antenna design will depend on the local trees. Scheduled times and frequencies will be released on QRZ.com. The hobby comes only after his obligations at the "Nyakato Health Center", of course. QSL via NK8O.

A5, BHUTAN JA1JQY (A52JY), JK1EBA (A52BA), JA3MCA (A52MA), JA1KJW (A52KJ), and JA8VE (A52VE) will be QRV in SSB/CW/RTTY on 160m-6m from a hotel at 3000m altitude in the capital Thimpu from Jun 6-14. A beacon will be set up to run continuously on 50.125 MHz. QSLs via homecalls.

A6, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES Here is a small contribution from Ulli,DL9WVM, for the DXNL: I am going to visit my children again and will stay in Dubai from Jun 10-30. So far I have made nearly 25.000 QSOs from this location and will try to be QRV again on 80-10m as much as possible. Inquiries about 6m are useless since operating on 6m is not allowed in the UAE. I also try to activate WFF A6FF-004 (Mushrif National Park [and buffer zone]) once which is virtually "across the road" in Mirdif. The are is comple- tely fenced and used for a recreation and amusement park. There is plenty space for parking and I will try to become QRV as A6/DL9WVM/m from there. However, this depends on whether I can find a hidden spot of shade (do not attract too much attention!). Despite air conditioning it is impossible to endure an hour in the car, at temperatures between 40 and 50 degrees Celsius in the shade :-) If Abdullah,A61Q, is available (and willing), then we would investigate whether it is possible to activate Dibbah rock in the Gulf of Oman in some way. Based on his first recordings this 'island' seems to be difficult to access and would then be the only remaining place that counts for AS-124. After the construction of the new breakwater in the harbor lying opposite to it, the distance to Shark Island is less than 300m. If we can not report positive results concerning Dibbah rock to Roger Ballister there is a risk that AS-124 could be removed from the IOTA list. If you like to arrange a sked with me please contact me on Skype. I am available in Dubai both via VoIP and chatting. Simply send a contact request which I can answer. If anyone plans to obtain a license for the United Arab Emirates you can contact me as well and I will be happy to support the person. Licenses are NOT a problem to obtain in principle. The Emirates Amateur Radio Society (EARS) was put in charge by the TRA (the local licensing authority) to issue the licenses, which in general is no problem.

Emergency communications in Italy
As a result of further tremors on the afternoon of May 29 emergency communi- cation has been intensified by the radio amateurs. Due to a request of the Italian civil defence authority the National emergency radio and volunteer group (RNRE) sent a mobile unit of five radio amateurs to the crisis region in northern Italy and prepared two other units which are ready for immediate use. The HF frequency 7060 kHz is used by IQ1HQ, the RNRE headquarters, and IQ0TK, the civil defence authority in Rome. VHF links are currently running on 145.200 MHz. The main earthquake occurred on May 20 at 0200 UTC in the region of Emilia Romagna in northern Italy.
