TONY'S 10 METRE BAND REPORT - 15/06/2012

15 June, 2012

A poor week except for Sunday. A5A (Bhutan), SU9VB (Egypt), ST2M (Sudan, Khartoum Sea Scouts), 4O3M (Montenegro) and ZL2WL (New Zealand) were all up there but TT8PK (Chad) peaked on Sunday.

Dave, VK5MRD , bagged his usual “just one big one”, JA8CMC on Sunday, then ZL2WHO on Tuesday. Then a disaster,
“We have a power black out at the moment so I can’t send you my normal log. Thunder, Lightning and high winds too. So I am sending you this from my mobile phone. Just a few stations worked today (in between jobs etc). Stations worked were:-
KQ6PK, ON4GI, BG4HUL, JA1COR and another JA whose call I can’t recall off the top of my head. Thanks to the power outage I can’t access my log.”
Fine Dave but how did the radio keep going if the power was out? Mobile, or maybe the power was only out when you came to send in a report and you sent it by cell phone. Now that’s dedication!
And there’s more, ON4GI , JA1COR , BG4HUL , JA2ING , KQ6PK, all worked on Wednesday when the power was back on.

Andy M0HLT heard, “SM7?? who is strong on 29,600 fm as of now 18.10pm UTC 5/9 + 60 (end stop) 12/6/12 Also worked SQ6NEF,HB9TWY,LA5ZO,RK3EW,DM4DX ALL 28MHZ SSB, and on FM I worked F5NPK,PA3GGB, since Saturday, until today the 12th, with 100watts, and a TS570S feeding a A99 vertical ground mounted, fed with 20 metres of westflex 103. And heard N8II 4/4 for a brief opening on 28 ssb around 8,30pm UTC”

Sun: Four clusters of sunspots with 1504 looking the best bet for solar flares.
Sport is slow in the UK with the weather being so poor. The Euro footy is dominating every thing except for club manager changes (Harry’s left Spurs). New Premier League fixtures out next Monday!!
