15/10/2012: From 15-18 October 2012 Jacek, SP5APW, is going to operate as W4/SP5APW from Clearwater Beach Island (NA-034, USi FL157S), Pinellas county, Florida. Holiday style suitcase activation using K3 (probably battery powered) and Buddipole antenna. Mainly on 20/15/10m bands SSB, only for a few hours a day. 16/10/2012: Between the 16th and 23rd October 2012, the Radio 7 Team, HB9FR, will activate the island of Rodrigues (AF-017, WFF 3BFF-004, WLOTA 4265), a part of the Republic of Mauritius. Call sign is granted and will be 3B9SP. Their goal is to set up three amateur radio stations that can be run together on different Amateur Radio bands. Mostly one in CW, one in phone and the third running special modes like RTTY and modern phase shift keying modes (PSK31). Hopefully good October propagation conditions will allow us to give everybody around the world a chance to have a QSO during the eight operating days. 16/10/2012: The T30PY/T30SIX Team are proud to announce a DXpedition to Tarawa Atoll (OC-017), Western Kiribati, from 16-25 October, 2012, when two call signs will be used: T30PY for use from 160-10 metres and T30SIX on 6 metres. It is expected to have 3 stations running simultaneously on HF and one on six metres. The following modes will be used: SSB, CW and RTTY. EME on six metres may be possible, but not yet confirmed. The team, at this time, is formed by the following Brazilian ham ops: Orlando PT2OP, Rick PY2PT, Fred PY2XB, Alex PY2WAS, Fernando PY4BZ, Jim PY7XC, Ciro PY7ZY, Miguel PY3MM and Marcelo PY1KN. 18/10/2012: Aki-san, JA1NLX, will be signing JA1NLX/VK4 between 18-23 October 2012 from Hamilton island (OC-160), the largest inhabited island of the Whitsunday islands archipelago, Queensland, Australia. Plans are to be QRV on, or near, the IOTA frequencies on each band, CW and SSB, from 40-10 metres. He will use a random wire wounded on fishing pole and radials with ATU, mounted on the room balcony. His station currently is an FT-857 at 100 watts to a dipole at a height of 10 metres. Jim will be on during the upcoming CQWW SSB contest, CQ zone 39.
