TONY'S 10 METRE BAND REPORT - 29/11/2012

November 29, 2012

Yet another bumper week ending of course with the CQWW CW contest. Not my favourite mode, CW.
Lots of DX though for those who do enjoy it.
PT0S (Saint Peter And Saint Paul Rocks) was still hanging in there but got caught by E51C (South Cook Islands), VK9/OH1VR (Lord Howe Is), EL2A (Liberia) and 9J3A (Zambia). D4C (Cape Verde) was prominent during the contest.
William, W5WMB , sent a nearly finished report. “Too many to send you just now, but I had two QSO's with Germany on 10M, and even worked New Zealand on 20! This was on the weekend of the worldwide CQ SSB Party. I only have the one antenna, A GAP 8-band Challenger II 32.5' tall vertical. I say 8-band because I've also 18M even though…………..”
So I wonder what the finish of that was?
Dave, VK5MRD has been at it again, paper work this time. Though he did manage: BD7IS , PD1RK , VK8NSB , ON6VL , VU2XO , M0XOC , M0XLT , RN3GW , R2DW , PH2A , OM5PM and PD1RK mainly on Friday and Sunday. “Here are a few stations I have worked over the last few days. Tonight I heard Patel VU2XO as I was doing some paper work for work but he wasn’t as strong as when I worked him a few days back.”
VK5PAS, Paul , worked the following on the short path during the Australian evenings. Thursday EA7GAK 5/7; LY1TR 5/7; & HA8DM 5/9,
Friday GM4XLU 5/7; GM0MNV 5/4; GM1JNS/M 5/4; MM0GCF/M 5/3; M0RBG 5/5; SP9PDF 5/7; SP2XF 5/9; F5TA 5/8; UT7EA 5/9; US7IGN 5/9; OF3I 5/9; ER3CT 5/8; DO8ER 5/6; MD0PWI 4/5; IZ5YHD 5/9; UT3MC 5/6; MM0GXQ 5/7; 2E0CEA 5/7; R5FB 5/9; GM2BMJ 5/9; UY7VJ 5/6; M0XOC 5/3; RV4CC 5/7; LZ1VVV 5/9; RA3QPY 5/9; & UA5F 5/9. “Conditions were really good. Very strong signals on the short path. My tx is a Yaesu FT-2000, 100W, & antenna is a Hy Gain 3 el yagi @ 51 feet”
Saturday UR6GZL 5/5; SQ7NLG 5/6; UR3GJ 5/4; F1AKE 5/3; YL3IQ 5/6; UR3CTB 5/6; IZ5IOT 5/6; UA9UDX 5/9; YO3CCB 5/5; UA9UDR 5/8; JR3LUZ/3 5/5; IS0BSR 5/9; & IK5IFH 5/8. “Conditions good, with some slight QSB on signals.”
Sunday DK3EE 5/9; US5DA 5/6; SP3FFK 5/5; UA4PBW 5/6; VU2XO 5/8; & PD1RK 5/7.
That’s a good load of contacts for just 100W, mind the Yagi at 50 feet will have helped.
Andy M0HLT is on his travels for a week. “Hi Tony, thought I would bang this in to you, before it's too late, as I have a 550 mile drive tomorrow (Monday) up to the Glasgow area for work ,for the week, the stations I worked were since Friday late afternoon, up until today , Sunday.
mostly SSB , apart from N1CKX on 10 fm simplex who responded to my CQ. I also worked K1IED 29MHz am with 25 watts max from my TS570S , and received a 5/5 report.
Around tea time today there were some openings to California and Texas, although not to strong, and 10fm was open everyday since Friday to my knowledge, as it seems to have been most days for several weeks? Stations worked were, KB0EO, YO9GJY, RA3PCI, TA1CR, N2CEP, N1CKX and K1IED. Cheers Tony. P.S we have had some RAIN down here in the Southwest over the weekend!!”
The whole country did. Amazingly my trip up to Stoke and back was rain and trouble free and the quickest I’ve ever done it.
Mike, 2E0YYY , had a good Friday. He worked DC2AC 5/9, EA3GYT 5/9, A71AM 5/9, US5IRW 5/2, UR5VCG 5/2, Y04BJT 5/5, 9A7JCY 5/9, RX6FR 5/9, PJ4NX 5/9, YV8AD 5/9, LU8DK 5/8, HK1KQX 5/5, UR5MQD 5/7, EA8CTF 5/9, PU2RSG 5/9, UA3MDI 5/5, UX1MH 5/5, PJ4D 5/9, C50C 5/9, K9VM 5/9, UR4MJB 5/9, K4WI 5/9, KA2AXQ 5/9, UR7ET 5/9, PU4MKS 5/9, UR3QQM 5/6, US7IGN 5/9 and NC4MM 5/3. He said, “Conditions were not so good on Friday, with Africa once again proving pretty elusive.”
