AUSTRIA 18910 Radio Austria International non-appearance 0900 UT 22 Jan

Tuned in to Radio Austria International on 18910 kHz, which of course
these days should have been a domestic service relay. There was a good
clear signal there, but it was just a continuous loop of their interval
signal, i.e. the Blue Danube waltz interspersed with multilingual ID's,
until the tx went off air at 0933 UT.

Incidentally, their website states the exact span for this broadcast as
0900-0933 UT and doesn't give a specific target area, merely describing it
as "weltweit" [worldwide].

CHILE Dear listeners and friends,
First of all I would like to thank you for your reports of the last week
of transmission of CVC La Voz in shortwave. We closed transmissions few
months ago and we have been dismantling the site during these months so we
will be finishing probably this month. I'm sorry for the delay in this
response, but we have been in a complicated process from the technical,
administrative and personal point of view, and because we have
experimented a reduction in personnel as well, we have been late in
sending the QSL requested. But, during this month we have been sending a
lot of QSL, and due the quantity of requests and reports we received, it
will be difficult to send responses to everybody. All of the messages and
reports showed us that they were lot of people listening to our signal and
this satisfied us a lot...

Personally speaking, I'll stop working for CVC soon, so this email address
will stop working soon. Thanks again for all your messages and reports!

FRENCH GUIANA 9606 on Jan 26 at 0125 UT, roaring spur centered around
here, not very strong but previously matched with Montsinery during the R.
Republica 00-02 UT transmission on 9490 kHz, 116 kHz above it. And yes,
there is a match, somewhat stronger, 116 kHz below it around 9374 kHz. On
very strong 9490 kHz, RR itself is undermodulated during a lo-fi phone
interview; in fact, the two spurblobs axually sound louder than the
fundamental! Which is suppressing any jamming, surely is being
transmitted; it would propagate, as 9955 kHz has the wall of noise, as it
did at 2216 UT on Jan 25 during WRMI's silent period.

Anyhow, the spurs show that TDF still hasn't fixed that problem, which
also emanate 116 kHz away from the NHK relay on 5960 kHz after 0200 UT,
i.e. 6076 and 5844 kHz, which I have not reconfirmed lately.

INDIA I am on visit to Indian Institute of Kanpur now.

Upon monitoring, it is noted that Gyan Vani Kanpur is now operating on
106.4 MHz replacing 105.6 MHz. An FM Rainbow Delhi relay is heard very
strongly here on 100.1 MHz also probably it is a new one at AIR Kanpur.

On the way at New Delhi, I met officials of AIR Spectrum Management. They
informed that the FM Rainbow & FM Gold channels at Delhi is temporarily
operating from Broadcasting House, Delhi with 1 & 5 kW due to the cable
damages in the recent fire at Pitampura Tower. The other private FM
channels who were operating from Pithampura are now on air from other
standby locations/tx with reduced power. Gyan Vani Delhi is still off air.

Problems with AIR Leh on 4660 and National Channel on 9470 was intimated
personally to the concerned officials who will hopefully set it right
soon.

Info was also got on AIR Rajkot 1000 kW, that they have rescheduled their
day time DRM transmissions on 1080 kHz. There are no transmission now at
0430 to 0630 UTC. At 0630 to 0815 AIR Urdu Service is now broadcast ONLY
in DRM. There is no change in other recently published schedules from
there.
(Jose Jacob-IND VU2JOS, DXindia Jan 18)

AIR National Channel 9470 kHz ok

The AIR National Channel on 9470 kHz was noted on exact frequency and
proper modulation last night (22 Jan 2013), after many months. They were
noted drifting on various nearby frequencies with distortion for some
months now.

The same was intimated to the concerned officials in person during my
visit to the AIR HQ, New Delhi last weekend.

Now look out for any changes to AIR Leh 4660 kHz which has been parked
here for some months now, instead of using original frequency of 4760 kHz.
<www.qsl.net/vu2jos>
Also noted yesterday at 1530+ UT on 9425 kHz with open carrier & no audio.
(Jose Jacob-IND VU2JOS, DXindia Jan 23)

Thanks for the alert! Jan 23 found 9470 kHz off the air around 1250 UT.

carrier with no audio. Seems they are still making adjustments to the
transmitter. Carrier still heard on 4660 kHz.

Re: New Txr for KBS - Kimje-KOR azimuth targets.

Propagation-wise 12-13-14 UT is a total wrong time selection on this path

That 25 degr reversed angle could be used most of the year towards CAN/USA
