The contest is organized and conducted in order to promote amateur radio on high frequency bands in countries of Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan)
and is dedicated to the spring celebration of Nauryz (Nowruz) included in the representative list of UNESCO List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, declared as the International Nowruz Day.

Modes: CW, SSB

Bands: 80 m, 40 m, 20 m, 15 m, 10 m

Recommended contest CQ calling format:

CW: «CQ NC», «NC Test»

SSB: SSB - «CQ Nauryz Contest»

All the radio amateurs from the world are invited to participate in the contest.

Participants should refrain from making QSOs within the internationally recognized DX-windows.


ENTRY CATEGORIES
For Central Asian stations:


SOAB-HP      Single operator, all bands, MIXED, with maximum legal transmitter output power.
SOAB-LPSingle operator, all bands, MIXED, with transmitter output power not more than 100 Watt.
SOAB-CWSingle operator – all bands, CW only.
SOAB-SSBSingle operator – all bands, SSB only.
MOSTClub stations – multiple operators, single radio, all bands, MIXED, with maximum legal transmitter output power.


For all other participants:
A-SOAB-HPSingle operator, all bands, MIXED, maximum legal transmitter output power.
A-SOAB-LPSingle operator, all bands, MIXED, output power not more than 100 Watts.
A-SOAB-CWSingle operator – all bands, CW only.
A-SOAB-SSBSingle operator – all bands, SSB only.
A-MOSTClub stations – multiple operators, single radio, all bands, MIXED, maximum legal transmitter output power.

Others:

SWLShort-wave listeners, all bands.

Scoring will be done separately for Central Asian stations and the rest of the world. Countries and continents will be used in accordance with the official DXCC definitions.

For all categories the contest duration is 6 hours.

The following rules are be applicable for all contest categories: 
  • the number of band changes must not exceed 10 during one hour of operation;
  • Each contest entrant must transmit only one signal at any given time during the contest;
  • Each contest station must only use single callsign throughout operation;
  • Any third party help or information in order to facilitate QSOs is prohibited;
  • DX clusters are allowed but self-spotting is prohibited.


CONTEST EXCHANGE

The Central Asian stations transmit the contest exchange including RS(T) and abbreviated 2 letter code of oblast (viloyat). For example: 59(9) AB. The list of oblasts (viloyats) of Central Asian countries are provided in the table listed in Annex 1 to the Contest Rules.

For all other participants the contest exchange includes RS or RST and number of ITU zone the stations is located at. For instance: 59(9) 29.

SCORES

Each QSO made within the same ITU zone - 1 point.
Each QSO made with station located in other ITU zone on the same continent - 3 points. 
Each QSO made with station from the other continent - 5 points.
For each QSO made with stations located in Central Asia regardless of their ITU zone - 1 point.
2 QSOs shall be allowed for each station on a single band – one in CW and one in SSB.


MUTIPLIERS

The multipliers are:
  • Various oblasts (viloyats) of Central Asian countries on each band in one of the modes;
  • Various ITU zones on each band in one of the modes.


SCORING

The final score is calculated as the product of sum of all points on all bands and the sum of multipliers collected on all bands. The winner will be the station achieving the highest score in its’ entry category.

For scoring the contest committee will use the contest logs submitted by the participants.

AWARDS

Participants with the most top score in all entry categories will be awarded with plaques and commemorative medals.

Participants with the 2nd and 3rd top scores in their entry category will be awarded commemorative medals provided there are more than 5 entrants in the category.

Contest entrant certificates will be provided as PDF files to each one through www.nauryz-dx-contest.com website.


CONTEST LOGS

Each station must provide one contest log in Cabrillo format only. The Cabrillo file format and specifications may be found at http://www.kkn.net/~trey/cabrillo/. Both Cabrillo v.2.0 and v. 3.0 will be accepted.
Cabrillo files must be sent by email as attachments to messages. The message subject must include the callsign of the participant.

Paper based logs are not accepted.

Contest logs with entrant’s notes and pictures taken during the contest are welcomed. They will be published along with the scoring table. Check-logs are also welcomed even if only one QSO has been made during the contest.

PENALTIES AND DISQUALIFICATION

QSOs shall be considered invalid if:
  • Contest committee does not receive the correspondent’s log and his callsign presented in less than 5 logs of other participants  (NoLog);
  • It does not exist in the correspondent’s log (NotInLog);
  • If contest exchange shows deviation in callsigns. This QSO shall be discounted from both stations scores (BadCallsign, Receive error, Partner error);
  • There is deviation in QSO time exceeding 3 minutes. This QSO shall be discounted from both participants scores (T3); 
    *The exception to this rule will be the situation when one of the participants has consistent date and/or time difference error in the log (STE).

Disqualification:
  • Violation of the contest rules, cheating and submission of QSOs not actually made;
  • Deliberate IARU band plan violation or violation of recommendations provided in the contest rules.

CONTEST SOFTWARE

Any contest logger software supporting IARU HF Championship can be used. Participants should select IARU HF Championship from the list of available contests to be used for Nauryz DX Contest.


DECLARATION
By submitting an entry in the Nauryz DX Contest you agree that:
  1. 1.1)you have read and understood the rules of the contest and agree to be bound by them;
  2. 2.2)you have operated according to all rules and regulations of your country that pertain to amateur radio;
  3. 3.3)your log entry may be made open to the public;
  4. 4.4)all actions and decisions of the Nauryz DX Contest Committee are official and final.
