Ever since march 1978, the VERON local branch of Nijmegen has issued the Noviomagum Certificate. On this occasion of the 70th anniversary of "Operation Market Garden" the rules to obtain the Noviomagum certificate have been altered. Due to the fact that this is a memorial year the Noviomagum cerficate has been changed so that one QSO with special event station PA7ØOMG counts for 3 QSO's. Furthermore each QSO, that has been confirmed with a QSL card of special event station PA7ØOMG, will be valid for 2 QSO's.

General requirements
a. The award is available to licensed amateurs and SWLs.
b. You need either a total of 10 HF points or a total of 30 VHF/UHF/SHF points to apply for the award.
c. All QSL-cards valid for the award will show the text: "This QSL-card is valid for the Noviomagum award.".
d. There are no limitations in date, band or mode.
e. Apply for the award by sending a log extract of QSOs to the Award Manager. This extract needs to be signed by two licensed HAM's or a club official.
f. The fee for the award is EURO 5 or US$ 7, for stations outside of the European Union the fee is US$ 10 and the rest of the world US$ 12.g. Point Values:
Each confirmed contact counts per band for 1 point, multiplied with the appropriate multipliers as indicated below.
a. Contacts with the club station PI4NYM: x 3.
b. HF bands - contacts made outside of Europe: x 2.
c. Only for the Netherlands:
     contacts made by a station with an N-license: x 2.
     Contacts made on/above 432 MHz: x 2.
     Contacts made on/above 144 MHz: distance QTH - Nijmegen (JO21wt) 50-100 km: x 1.5 or distance QTH - NIjmegen (JO21wt) >100 km: x 3.
d. Special Multiplier for QSOs with PA7ØOMG - One QSO with special event station PA7ØOMG: x 3.
e. Special Multiplier PA7ØOMG - One QSO confirmed with a QSL-card of special event station PA7ØOMG: x 2.

I had the opportunity to see the "Bridge Too Far" at Nijimen in 2010 while visiting The Netherlands. The bridge was the scene of violent gun battles as the Germans raced across to stop the US paratroopers who crossed the river in small rubber boats to surprise them.  The town was pretty well 99% destroyed by the fighting in 1944 and there we were in 2010 enjoying coffee and pastries in the village square, surrounded by completely restored "old style" buildings.    Ted - K1BV
