Sponsored by Lifeboat Amateur Radio Society who will be issuing awards to those Amateur Radio stations and Shortwave Listeners around the world that contact our official SOS Radio Week stations.


The following awards are available:

1. Commemorative Certificate – Awarded to all Amateur Radio Stations and Shortwave Listeners that worked/heard at least one SOS Radio Week station using terrestrial modes.

2. Bronze Award – Presented to all Amateur Radio Stations and Shortwave Listeners that worked/heard three SOS Radio Week stations using terrestrial modes.

3. Silver Award – Presented to all Amateur Radio Stations and Shortwave Listeners that worked/heard six SOS Radio Week stations using terrestrial modes.

4. Gold Award – Presented to all Amateur Radio Stations and Shortwave Listeners that worked/heard ten SOS Radio Week stations using terrestrial modes.

5. Platinum Award – Presented to all Amateur Radio Stations and Shortwave Listeners that worked/heard fifteen SOS Radio Week stations using terrestrial modes.

6. Internet Award – Presented to all Amateur Radio Stations and Shortwave Listeners that worked/heard any number of SOS Radio Week stations over the Internet using the likes of D-Star, IRLP and EchoLink.


A list of qualifying stations for the award is available on their Internet site.

Only one award is available to a single person, so make sure you claim the highest level you are entitled to.

Cost: There is no charge for the awards, but the sponsor would be very grateful if you would consider making a donation to the RNLI since the purpose of the event is to raise money for this very fine organisation.

What format are the certificates produced in? To keep our costs down the certificates will be created as Adobe Acrobat (PDF) documents and emailed to you.

Applying: Scan your logbook pages containing the relevant contacts and save them in a PDF file. This can be done by pasting the scanned images in to a Microsoft Word or Open Office document and saving the document as a PDF file.Name the PDF file as callsign.pdf, where ‘callsign’ you used to operate the SOS Radio Week stations. This will help our Awards Manager to link the file to the application.
