October 1, 2015

Conditions improved so much that at the weekend, 5 or more contacts were needed to get in to the lists.
E6GG (Niue Is), Z21MG (Zimbabwe), CW4MAX (Uruguay) were immensely popular along with D67GIA (Comoros Is) and P49X (Aruba). I personally have heard signals only today. I worked a couple of EAs and an EB an ON on PSK31 and PSK125.

But if you look at this map of contacts for Saturday (Sunday was similar) then you can see lots of activity into Europe.

Sun: 8 sunspot clusters!! Sept. 28th at 1458 UT, a strong M7-class solar flare erupted in the magnetic canopy of sunspot AR2422. Extreme UV radiation from the flare ionized the top of Earth's atmosphere and caused a brief low-frequency radio blackout over South America and the Atlantic ocean: blackout map. AR2422 has an unstable 'beta-gamma-delta' magnetic field that could erupt again at any moment. (Spaceweather.com)

Well Stoke did manage to get their first win of the season against Bournemouth 2 – 1 at home. Next Saturday it’s Aston Villa away, they are just below us in the table, but then Chelsea are not far above us.
