14 - 16 May 2016

On Saturday and Sunday, 14th/15th May 2016 the Netherlands will be holding a National Windmill and Pumping Station weekend during which many antique windmills and pumping stations will be open to the public to view.

For many years, in the U.K., the events of this weekend have been shared with amateur radio stations and became known as the ‘Mills on the Air’ weekend. In 2009 Jelle (PD5JFK) and Bernard (PB7Z) decided to set up for the first time their own special radio station to contact mills in Holland and elsewhere in Europe and so advertise the opening of Windmills and Pumping Stations. This proved to be so popular with millers and volunteers alike that they were encouraged to repeat this promotion each year and this year is the 8th year.

A list of participating sites is shown on their website.

This year for the first time the award program is extended to be international and include all radio stations at mills not only in Holland but worldwide.

This Award can be earned by any station working:

a) Six different windmills or pumping stations or,

b) Six QSO’s with windmills or pumping stations on different Bands/Modes.

There is only one way to receive the Award. We offer the free pdf award via email beginning this year, 2016. No printed paper version will be offered.

The Award program is open also to SWL’s and winners will have a special PDF version sent via email. We require the log be sent by e-mail showing the QSO’s of both sides of the contact. The Award will be free sent via email.

The Award can be applied via: pb7z@ziggo.nl
